Yep, that is the only way to go.

Easy to setup as well.

1. Edit your profile:
http://www.rccrawler.com/modules.php...de=editprofile

2. Scroll down to the "Preferences" section

3. Select yes to the following:

Notify on new Private Message: Yes

Pop up window on new Private Message: Yes
Some templates may open a new window to inform you when new private messages arrive.

Yeah pop up windows are nice, as long as you don't use a pop up blocker.

And my iMac does, and I like it!!
