| I know that y'all really.....
Don't give a crap.... But our offer for our new home was accepted today and I'm just pumped.. A little back story, Last Aug a Sheriff's deputy showed up at our door and handed my wife some papers... It was an eviction hearing notice, Unknown to us our Landlord stopped paying the mortgage about a year before. So in Sept we had to move out of the house. We were luckier than most as we have a lake place that we could move to, while not the best, it has kept us warm and dry for the last year as we got back on our feet. The biggest issues were frozen water lines and the 1 hr 45 mile commute 1 or 2 times a day. So 3 weeks ago we made an offer on a house in town (well on the edge, we wanted a big lot) and today it was accepted. The best part for me is I will be able to crawl more... It needs some work on the outside but the inside is mostly done, just needs the finishing touches. And its sitting on almost 2 acres Since this thread would suck more with out pics heres a few..... |

Bitchin! I hope I can post up a similar thread in a year. Apartment living just won't cut it for much longer. I just wish we could even dream of having 2 acres here in SoCal, but that'll be waaaaaaay outside the budget Congrats |

Congrats man! My wife and I just bought a house a month or so ago, its a cool feeling. Next time I move, it'll be out of Vegas though, to a less densly populated area, where 2 acres is possible.

Very awesome! Me and my family are looking to close on our new house in hopefully a week. Supposed to be this week but all the paper work, appraisals, inspections.. blah blah blah.. Seems like its taking forever. I didn't know purchasing a house would be so stressful. Im stoked to get moving, and I'm sure you are as well. Looks like you will have a nice little workshop for your hobbies and projects. |

Same thing just happened to us. Land lord stopped paying in September 09, got the notice for forclosure beginning of June to be out by, well, today haha. The auction was this morning but we have been moved in our new place for a month now. It really pissed me off. She pocketed over $20k of our money, meanwhile she finished her back yard, vacations, new car (she built 4 houses on the same lot, sold one, lives in one, and rented ours and our neighbor) She was in Arizona on vacation when we found out I was furious to say the least. But oh well, life goes on. Congrats on tour new place |

| There is not much you as a tenant can do in court, Because you have to "prove" damages. The most you can get is moving expences. We went that route last fall and now I have a nice sheet of paper that says I can "try" and collect $5000.00 from my ex landlord. Who has btw declaired bankruptcy and shows no assets other than his home and 1 car, which in MN you can't touch. Quote:
