| California Gun owners. Quick question, need a quick answer.
I am flying into Reno (then driving to CA) soon and will be taking my new XD40 Subcompact with me. No CC license yet. Just going to check the gun with my luggage. So the XD has a 9 round and 12 round mag. Do i need to leave the 12 round magazine here? Does the over 10 round mag apply to me as well? Thanks for any help.

| I do remeber when I went with a friend to Marin firearms in the summer to get a xd-40 tactical, one of the workers did say that one of the xd 40s was illegal here. I'm not sure though of which one. I'm not sure if it is illegal or you just can't purchase them in Cali.

No, anything over 10 is not legal unless you're an LEO. What you can do is take it down to parts which you can then rebuild while in CA as a permanent 10 Rd magazine. There is a mod to permanently make the hicap on the XDM a 10 rounder. I'm sure a similar mod will do the trick for your 12 round

no 12 rounder. 10 only. must be locked in a box or have a cable lock thorough it while in the car. or just in the trunk. ammo must be separate. commyfornia worst gun laws ever |

I could be wrong, but if memory serves me the only difference between the legal/non-legal ca. models was the mag they ship with. Like I said, I could be wrong, just seem to remeber that from a few years ago when my old manager got his.
