| Live Your Brand. Monster Tattoo
So. Yesterday Facebook (well... only his page) blew up when Rob Dyrdek posted pictures of him apparently getting a Monster Tattoo. Now a video is available. At first I thought he was a total asshole for getting something like that. He was talkign about "brand loyalty" or some shit. Might ass well get "Hansen Corporation Owns Me" Tattooed on his face. I still think it's stupid though. I had my doubts as to whether or not it was real and after seeing the video I decided there is no way it's real. Granted... I know NOTHING about tattooing. I just feel like after a 9 hr tattoo session the skin would be ****ed and that thing wouldn't look as... fake? as it did. I dunno. Thoughts? I think anyone that gets a brand logo tattooed on them is an asshole. If you didn't make that mark or don't own its just gay and unoriginal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltpQR...ayer_embedded# |

His back, his sponsor, and his choice so I'm not going to fault him for that logic. I will say this, that had to hurt like a sombitch if he sat through the whole thing while getting it in one shot! |

If it is real he's going to have fun explaining to his grandkids wtf Monster was in his day and why he made his back a shrine to it. | |

And that's his choice, would that be any different than a person that has worked at one brand of car dealership, as well as owning, modding, ect the same brand getting that brand's logo tattooed on him?

I guess if that's truly your lifestyle and something you truly believe in then nobody can fault you for it because nobody IS you. Although all i can think of now is that "dope" audi tattoo that some guy got reamed for getting a while back. I guess I just see it as a misguided passion. |

| ? I guess i'm looking at it from a creative perspective. I know the majority of tattoo's are someone elses work that a person puts on themselves because it reminds them of something or represents something important to them, but a fat, green monstrosity is a bit extreme. Probably being judgmental about a sensitive subject but whatever. I guess Rob is known for going big so it shouldn't be all that surprising. |

I see stuff like that and immediately think But hey, It is that persons right to put what they want where they want it I guess. What are the copyright problems when doing stuff like this though? (not the golden palace thing) I mean, I can't go ask a screen printer to make me a RedBull T Shirt but I can get their logo across my chest? I wonder... I don't think I meant this to be a "right or wrong" post. Although the injection of my opinion has made it that way. Whatever, that's what a forum is for I was more curious if it seemed legit to other people or not. |

Robs a professional and now days a "house hold name" and all this does is make his sponsors love him all the more. Now if it was some one who works at lets say a pizza place and had that peice done, I wouldnt support it much but then again, its their body, their choice.

To each his own, but I am sure he is getting paid to do this. He just became a walking billboard. I remember a couple of years ago some boxers whee tattooing casino name on themselves for fights.

I think the dedication he shows to his sponsors is awesome. As a business owner myself, I would be blown away if somebody got my logo tattooed on their back like that. Gotta admit though, even if monster was never created, its still a cool design. |
