clearly the huge wood beam couldn't support that giant fan so they cut it out to mount it to some xtra heavy duty drywall!! |

LOLOL, Its just a support beam. Who cares if its cut in half. It will still hold the structure up..its there isn't it ?

the beam is a cedar decrative beam. just for looks. but wow. looks to me like its a furred down ceiling (7' judging by how high the dining room light is) and they didnt have the headroom to mount it on the beam. looks like the work of the red green show to me great post. halarious |
