This is a load of bull. I went through and looked up the passages that it quoted and they are by far from accurate. I do agree that society has lost the true meaning behind Christmas but this video is no where close to the truth. Do some research and you will see. I tried to reply to this and was hoping people would just figure it was a post to stur up drama. My wife and I wanted to write up a long post to explain it all, but figured that is what Patrick is trying to achieve from his post.

Yes its true. The 25th of December was used for all sorts of old pagan holidays, as is the imagery we still hold on to today, though most people don't know it, so it doesn't really matter IMO.

Jesus' true birthday is not known, neither is the exact day of his death or resurrection. Christians took the 25th to both appease their new pagan converts, and to divert attention from the worship of other gods on that day.

Santa Claus or Father Christmas has origins that go waaaaaaay back, though the western version we know today is really nothing more than a marketing ploy.

In fact, in an odd bit of sanity, one of the local churches here printed an article in todays newspaper explaining how Christians celebrating the birth of Christ with decorations and lights and gifts and food etc etc etc is against what is taught in the bible. It is permissible, however, to use the holiday to enjoy friends and family. Christmas as a social occasion = good. Christmas as a religious occasion = bad.
