I just want to see Illinois try and collect sales tax on the money I earned in Japan, and spent on parts from Australia. Doubtless they think that my residency of record allows them to do that....

That really sucks. Parts of Texas pay a lower sales tax than 8.25....but I believe that is about average for this state.

The news this morning had a little more info, they stated that the state would be "Actively going after due sales taxes". I really want to know how they plan to do this. The state tax in Il is 6.25% (you generally pay 8.75-10% depending where you buy because of city/county taxes) so, are they going to just pick an arbitrary # and say I owe that in taxes? I can see this being a HUGE burden on some people in a time when it hard enough to get by. Why the heck did they reelect a democrat...

If they come knocking on your door asking from taxes from internet purchases, simply ask them to show you a receipt for those items WITH your signature on the paper. They cant and wont be able to do that.....which means that they cant legally hold you responsible.

Yeah, they get you one way or another, I wouldn't care so much if they actually got rid of the state income tax, but that would never happen. They will end up double and triple taxing more and more, hard to fight the mother effers.

It is nice going into a store and knowing the actual price on the shelf is what you have to pay.
