And that, kiddies, is why we have so many more useless drivers that can't afford their insurance premiums that they've jacked up with a crap driving record on the road, backing into you at Wallmart and running down your Grandma.

Darwin does not approve of airbags and crumple zones

I'm kind of surprised, I thought the clunker would own the thin metal/plastic car.

Crumple zones make all the difference.

i'll stick with the 59. it commands the road with big chrome bumpers and oozing with style. the Malibu is a major disgrace to the entire namesake.

well it was a partial head-on. probably an inline 6 engine as well. perfect way to exploit the crash on the 59s part. one end of a 3 pc. bumper, a support for that part, a hood, core support , fender, and inner fender vs. 3 to 4 times more metal (yet bad quality metal at that) ....head-on lined up , i bet the bumper, frame, and V8 would prove more formidable than the crash test let on. i would expect the malibu to almost go underneath it if its nose was diving from braking

Long ago my dad hit a bull head on while hauling ass down a dirt road in his 63 Impala. I forget the speed, but it was fast. Drove the engine through the firewall, almost to the point where he could have used the air cleaner as an arm rest. He's got pictures to prove it.

Cars then weren't designed like they are now. Structure was to support the car, not to protect the passengers.
