If you ship to be sheep, so be it.

You can have my guns when you pry them from my cold dead fingers.

Its not a gun problem, its a people problem. Guns don't do any more damage than carrots do, until someone picks one up and does something malicious or foolish with it.

Take the guns away, they'll use knives. Take the knives away, they'll use pointed sticks. Take the pointed sticks away, they'll use rocks. Etc, etc, etc.

Yup!

When the Communists first took over the area where he lived, they appeared to be good rulers. They established law and order and cleaned up the traffic in drugs and prostitutes. Then one day the Communist bosses announced, "You can see that we have established a good society and you have no need for your guns. Everyone must come in the night and dump all guns in the town square." The people believed and obeyed. The next day, the reign of terror began, with public executions and cruel imprisonments. Everyone accused of being a "landlord" was dragged through the streets and executed; a "landlord" was anyone who farmed his little plot of ground with two water buffalo instead of one.

Gun confiscation leads to a loss of freedom, increased crime, and the government moving to the left. This has already happened in England and Australia. After Great Britain banned most guns in 1997, making armed self-defense punishable as murder, violence skyrocketed because criminals know that law abiding citizens have been disarmed. Armed crime rose 10% in 1998. The Sunday Times of London reported on the new black market in guns: "Up to 3 million illegal guns are in circulation in Britain, leading to a rise in drive-by shootings and gangland-style execution." There has been such a heavy increase in the use of knives for violent attacks that new laws have been passed giving police the power to search anyone for knives in designated areas.
In 1996 Australia banned 60% of all firearms and required registration of all guns and the licensing of gun owners. Police confiscated 640,381 firearms, going door to door without search warrants. Two years later, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that all crime had risen and armed robberies were up 44%.
Miguel A. Faria Jr., M.D., described his first-hand experience in Cuba. Before 1958, Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista had all citizens register their firearms. After the revolution, Raul and Fidel Castro had their Communist thugs go door to door and, using the registration lists, confiscate all firearms. As soon as the Cubans were disarmed, that was the end of their freedom.
Tyrannical governments kill far more people than private criminals. The Nazis conducted a massive search-and-seizure operation in 1933 to disarm their political opponents, in 1938 to disarm the Jews, and when they occupied Europe in 1939-41 they proclaimed the death penalty for anyone who failed to surrender all guns within 24 hours.
The first line of safety has to be an ability to defend yourself. In some areas, a woman who is being stalked by her ex-husband must wait 10 days to buy a gun, even if her life has been threatened. Some cities criminalize carrying guns for self-defense but make exceptions for people carrying money or jewels. Are money and jewels more important to protect than people's lives?
History teaches us that registration leads to the confiscation of guns and that is the goal of many gun control advocates. Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control Inc., told The New Yorker: "The first problem is to slow down the number of handguns being produced and sold in this country. The second problem is to get handguns registered. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition -- except for the military, police, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors -- totally illegal."

Ok, I am in law enforcement and recently I became a member of our Special response team. Once you have been a member for a year you get a coin to carry. Its for coin "checking" eachother. Well since I am a FNG on the team I was instructed to get a rock, and paint it blue. I have to carry it 24/7 and if a senior member of the team was to catch me without it, I would be doing pushups till I puke.

Government, media and communication are very very different to anything Mr Mason could envisage even in his wildest dreams.

This was also a time when slavery was considered essential by many "land owners" in the US, women didn't get a vote.
It was considered acceptable to wipe out the continents native population and Americans were killing each other at an alarming rate during the civil war.

Things change.

I do not consider myself a "slave" yet i own not 1 firearm.

So that kinda blows that statement out of the water.

Or

Although i posted facts as these are substantive and quantifiable, i was really just going on personal experience.
When i've been over in the US most shootings no longer even make the evening news unless there is some kind of weird or more shocking than usual circumstance involved.

This is coming from a guy that was raised in a area notorious for gun crime yet we experienced only 1 tragic of murder related to firearms in 2 years.

2006/2007 there were a total of 58 deaths in the entire country related to firearms.

To put that into perspective.
The UK is 244,820 square km in area and has a population of around 62,000,000.
Had 58 gun related murders 06/07

Michigan is slightly bigger in size at 253,226 square km and has a substantially lower population at 10,000,000

Yet had 437 gun related murders last year.

That's more than half the population, the same surface area yet 8 times higher gun related murder rate.

This is not even looking at suicide or accidental death rates related to firearms.

I don't see how anyone could argue that Europe is a safer pace to live with regard to fire arm murder.
So i'm extremely happy with the firearm laws over here and can't help feeling if the US adopted the same laws it'd be a hell of a lot safer place to live for you guys, your kids and grandkids.

If that means tearing up some old out of date piece of paper in the process then to my mind at least that's an extremely small price to pay for my kids safety

To reiterate i am no anti-gun nut.
I love shooting and i love guns, i'm talking 100% here about hand guns.

Other than competitive target shooting i see no place in this day and age for a civilian to have a CCW (which is a hand gun in 99.99%).

In the respect of fairness i got most of my statistics from these following links that were the first the came up from various searches.

I guess it's difficult to understand something you have never had.

You can keep your "facts" and I'll keep my guns!
