Thumbs down Pnuemonia sucks...

Checked into the ER Monday the 9th after work and was quickly transferred to the ICU early Tuesday morning, bi-lateral pnuemonia. Doc's say if I had waited 4-6 more hours they would have had to incubate me and put me on the big respirator under sedation.

Just got out of ICU around noon today, got settled into a normal room, got a shower, a change, a few laps around the floor and a full belly. Feeling pretty good, looking forward to heading home in a few more days.

Alright, listen up, this is important. When you get home, take it easy for a few weeks. DO NOT push yourself too hard. You think pneumonia sucks, try a collapsed lung. Maybe 10 years ago I had pneumonia, kept working, felt like crap, went to the doc. Doc says your lung is partially collapsed, go home. Like a dumbass I went back to work. Never did get the lung capacity back.

Learn from my fail.

I've had pneumonia twice. Neither time did I even have the energy to leave bed or the couch. Take it easy and let it work it's way out.

that sucks... I hope you recover quickly!!

and definitely definitely definitely listen to microgoat... do whatever the doc says with recovery, and really take it easy after you're out. your body needs to have time to get over that-- if it was serious enough for you to be in ICU for almost a week, it will take a while for your body to get back.

so take it easy, and enjoy the pampering by the nurses (hopefully you have cute ones), and your family when you get home.

I had pneumonia 6 years ago and actually died from it. I was in a induced coma for four days. They said it was some kind of bacterial pneumonia...

The old lady sprung me from the Hospital late yesterday, felt really good to sleep in my own bed, 1st time in a week. Lots of fluids, and walks for now. Time to heal and recover.

Thanks guys and gals for the advice and thoughts
