Possibly Jeep used the wrong size ring.....or maybe they machined the lip in the ears of the shafts incorrectly. Either way, since you said they are falling out, I would definitely tack those clips to the cap at the very minimum."thumbsup" |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee I haven't yet experienced that, but several of my fellow club members have. So it's not an isolated incident. But when I feel like pulling my wheels off and such, I'll take care of that. Knock on wood, though....no problems yet. |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee damn that place looks amazing! been going out last couple days myself. turns out i DO have a bit of redneck in me. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...04263017_n.jpg |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Haha that thing looks good dirty! Get yourself a rustys 2.5 inch or Iron rock offroad 3 inch kit and some ATs or MTs. It will transform how that thing does on the trail |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee yeah ive got some ATs on it already. made a big difference. especially when pulling the 5000 lb boat out of the mud after a good rain. |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Just ordered a 6.5 inch long arm lift kit, front driveshaft conversion, and a JKS adjustable track bar...... stay tunes |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Dumped a crap load of money on this thing. No new RC parts for me for a while  I have ordered the following: Iron Rock Offroad 6.5 inch lift coils, Doetsch Tech 8000 series shocks, JKS front swaybar disconnects, JKS adjustable track bar, rear extended swaybar links, a-arm spacer, complete front high clearance long arms, heavy duty front long arm brackets, heavy duty rear lower control arms, coil spring retainers, brake line spacers, caster adjuster bracket, front driveshaft conversion (ball joint to knuckle style), NV242 slip yoke eliminator, and a new front steering stabilizer |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Cool. Now invest in a sawzaw and make room for better, non mall crawler, grocery getter tires. Then lose them plastic bumpers for some cool bumpers and a winch and I think you'll finally have a respectable rig. I admire you for sticking with it after all the shit you've been given for wheelin a stockish jeep. |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Hey, that stockish Jeep has gotton me everywhere I have pointed it, plus the people giving me shit about it just motivates me to keep improving it so I can put some jaws on some shoes. |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee No shame in wheeling a stock jeep at all. Mine did quite well in stock formation and has been wheeled more stock than lifted with higher tires. Curious though...why brake line drop brackets instead off longer steel braided lines? |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee KILLER! i have to agree, time for new tires.... they are limiting you alot more than your ride height. i recently made a big upgrade to my WJ too8) |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee What you get? |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Lift kit install is under way, here is a wrap up of todays progress. Started off by dropping the transfercase cross member and tapping in the cross member drop kit and front long arm mounts. After that we took the front and rear driveshaft off and set the hack n tap in place, but didnt fully install it. After that we disassembled the rear end, and got the whole rear end finished Drop kit and front bracket: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...180620_477.jpg Hack N Tap: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...180632_220.jpg A-Arm Spacer: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...190128_017.jpg Rear end finished: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...192705_188.jpg Going to take a break this weekend due to some family events, but monday we should start back with it |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee nice bro! |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Well, ended up being able to be in the shop today and the lift is done minus a pitman arm, and the rear driveshaft. The tires are being shipped monday, and should be here thursday! Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Just needs some bigger shoes."thumbsup" |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Well I finally got the wheels and tires in. 35x12.5x17. I have some wheel spacers on order so I am waiting on those to get in before I mount them: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...160725_911.jpg And I took the front end off. I am building a full custom front winch bumper: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...164546_846.jpg One thing is for sure though. I need to get cracking on my styrene skills. I am itching to build a 1:10 version of this thing |
Re: LR3 Builds a 1:1 - 2003 Grand Cherokee Looking great but wheel spacers suck! I had some I used on an XJ and then my TJ. It was difficult to trust them to stay tight, and when I did finally get comfortable with them... they let me down. It turned a simple trail repair into an all night affair ending with a trailer ride home. :x Just make sure you NEVER cross thread them! |
