| Datsun Project - Little Lightning
Just thought I'd share my 1:1 project truck. Me and a friend are working on putting a 429 big block V8 from a 1975 lincoln into a 1979 Datsun 720. The truck is an extended cab, kind of a joke since the cab is only 6 inches longer then a normal one. The motor will be turned 180* and mounted in the bed of the truck. The motor will hook to a 3spd tranny, also from the Lincoln, and that will drive the input of a 4WD transfer box, that will be locked in 4WD, and what would normaly be the front output, will be pointing to the rear, and will drive the Ford 9" rear axle from the lincoln. This truck is being built on a budget of $1000. So far we have the truck, the lincoln, and the transfer box, and still have 250 left in the budget. The 429 had been sitting for 6 years, and started on the first crank, no smoke, no rod knocks or lifter issues, sounds like a good motor. Time for some pics: Front - http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?i...unfront2ly.jpg Left side - http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?i...verview8hb.jpg Rear Frame - http://img510.imageshack.us/my.php?i...arframe8bn.jpg I'm interested in any feedback, think it'll work? Think it's the dumbest thing ever? Let me know... Last edited by AkCrash; 05-03-2006 at 10:44 PM. |

lol... It is posible, we are aiming for a 40/60 weight ratio to help prevent that. One of our goals is a 90mph stationary burnout...

well you may want to find an old boat V-Drive that would take the place of the transfer case and be efficent and less likely to fail than the transfer case.... With that aside your gonna need to shore up the chassis a bit....
