| I though i was lucky a year or two back i came across a handful of $1000 peso's Did currency conversion and i had like $8500 USD worth of peso's. Went to the bank to get them exchanged and it turns out it was the old style and arn't worth nothing but as a collectors item. So make sure you got current coins. |

Coins in foreign countries change all the time. A lot of times they are still good in that country though. Look at the US. We still except all of our coins and bills from the past! Though most of our old stuff it would be dumb to spend instead of selling, lol! I hope it works out for you! I would call a coin shop and ask them first ,)

Looks like Turkey swapped to the New Lira in 2005 2005 — 1 U.S. dollar = 1.29 new lira (The use of New Turkish Lira, which drops 6 zeros from the currency Turkish Lira, was implemented in 2005) |

in italy none can chage back your turkish lira to euro, you can only buy but not sell, during my trip to turkey, if i had liras in hand, i was obliged to ask the change at the airport or at a exchange office, no possibility to sell at city bank...

They might be worth something to a coin collector, but usually world currency isn't worth much to collectors either. Even rare and unique stuff doesn't carry much value.

Exchange rate in 1988 (closest year listed) was 1300 lira per 1 US dollar. So your total of 12,010 lira would be worth about $9US in 1989. However, with the monetary adjustment dropping 6 zeros from the old lira, your 12,010 lira would be adjusted to 0.012 "modern" lira. Basically, not even worth a single penny. Sorry man, I think you've got a pile of shiny coins not worth much other than looking at them. Maybe you can fool some vending machines into taking them as US coin ! |
