E Form 4 is coming in the next few weeks, so it's gonna be a good time to do all that. SBR will be a E Form 1 no matter what.

Default Gun and knife picture thread!

I picked up the cheap Honey Badger for work and have put it through the wringer thanks to RCC and this thread. It doesn’t hold an edge for very long when cutting rope, cardboard, rubber hoses, and random stuff that’s cuttable. One trip it had dulled down to the point I used a hammer and beat it through a 1” rubber hose. But for $40 it’s held it’s own. So I went and ordered the D2 bladed one to carry and see how I like it. It may rotate into work duties before long but so far so good.

I’m not a big knife guy but have carried a Swiss Tinkerer for the last 25 years or more. So losing that EDC simplistic utility may be more than I can stand. I’ll see.

I'm not really a gun guy, but I picked this up in an auction last year. Winchester model '94 lever action 30-30 built in 1974. Original price sticker is still on the box. Appears to have never been fired. Bought a few hundred rounds at $2+ a pop, which is more like $3 a round now, so I still haven't fired it.

I'll give you $79.98 for it! You'd be turning a profit in about a year.

You're welcome!

Been a minute since I posted here but I have acquired 2 new toys.

Picked up this savage Mark II in 22LR for dirt cheap and put it in a Boyd's stock with a Vortex scope on it and took i to my dad's to shoot birds, squirrels and ground hogs which it did very well. I seems the like the Tac-X sub sonic ammo which is pretty quiet with even without a suppressor yet.

Then, I picked up this thumper because I have a soft spot for big bores. Savage scout in 450 Bushmaster with a Leupold 1.5-4X scout scope. Got it dialed in at 100 yards a the range this past Saturday. Doesn't kick a bad as the 45/70 Henry but you still know what you are shooting even with the factory brake.

Nice looking stuff fellas.

Haven't shot rifles in a while now, life's been a little crazy. But I got out for some sporting clays for my bachelor party weekend. We all had a good time.

So I sold off my Savage 110 Tactical and my Ruger American .243 Win and consolidated to this, a Tikka T3x UPR in 6.5 CM. I am more than satisfied with the quality and the accuracy of this guy out of the box. Shoots factory match ammo better than either of the old ones shot my reloads.

Nice rifle!

What's with the ports you shoot through? Never saw anything like that before. Is that for safety or noise reasons?

They are for noise reduction. This is the only range I have seen something like this on.

hpiguy, good luck!

Thank you!

Met my cousin down at Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville, GA for their extreme rimfire match. Targets from 82yds, to 207yds, targets are 1/5 NRA silhouettes. This was my first match ever.

Takeaways;

There are a lot of great people in the sport. I was offered ammo, equipment, etc. I was also provided a spotter for my second round, and lots of great advice which I readily took to heart.
The venue is fantastic. You shoot in the shade, under cover, with ceiling fans on.

  • I learned that cheap ammo may shoot bugholes inisde 50yds, but falls apart quickly beyond 82yds. LOL
  • I learned that I need a new rear bag, and already ordered it.
  • I learned that I had plenty of extra time, and should have slowed down, and taken more wind calls.
  • I learned that you can only shoot in one class per day for score (makes sense).
  • I learned that next time will take more guns LOL

Overall, I did okay for my first time out. I shot CCI standard velocity (SV) in my morning round and quickly learned the downfall of cheaper rimfire ammo. Namely that it's very inconsistent. I would drill one target, then miss the next two, and it was incredibly frustrating. My cousin gave me a few boxes of Eley Club match ammo and for the second round I got my DOPE for that. I went on the shoot a 38/40 and was very happy with that for my first outing. I can't make the September round, but I will definitely be there for the October round. The Tikka shot great as always, and as usual is more capable than the shooter.

That red arrow is your 207 target line

Very cool, my savage likes the Lapua center-x best but also shoots x-tac pretty well. Good enough to pick a barn swallow of a fence wire at about 100 yards. I’d like to try a match sometime.

My Tikka T1X usually shoots the CCI SV good out to 100yds ish. But beyond the 82yd line Saturday, the CCI just fell apart.

This was my first match, and it was a ton of fun and I learned a lot. I highly recommend it!
