I've been reading about those printers for a few months. There is a ongoing debate about them. There have been a few guys that used them to make some guns and gun parts. The material used can't hold up as a working gun right now but they are working on it as we speak. The question is, is it legal to "print" a pistol or rifle? Some legal experts say yes while others say no. Printing a gun could change them game a bit though! Gun cost would go WAY down! Making a custom gun would be super easy and fast! You get the idea. None the less those printers are one of the coolest things I've ever seen! |

I have seen machines that do the same thing with aluminum. They put a layer of aluminum down and then an ultrasonic head comes in and accually vibrates so fast, it heats of the molecules of aluminum and melts the layer. Think of it like baking a cake, a quarter of an inch at a time. Steel and other high strength materials won't be far behind. A cheaper version for plastic parts is the Dimension 3d printers. These. The term “firearm” is defined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Section 921(a)(3), to include "(A) any weapon (including a starter gun), which will, or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive; (B) the frame or receiver of any such weapon…." | |

Not with out the proper license. When it comes to parts, depends on if its a regulated part like AR-15 lowers. |
