Whats the point? Comparing gauged ears to tattoos is kinda stupid- Tattoos are art, though permanent. I know people frown on them, but at least they can somewhat have a meaning. Maybe I'm missing the attraction to it, but IMO gauged ears look horrible. I'm not that old either at 29....

There is a range of size where I think it looks good, for guys that is between 0g and 3/4" or so depending on the size of your head and ears. Chicks can get away with them a bit smaller. Im not a fan of huge stretched ears either, once they get all floppy and huge I just think it is overkill. In the end you dont have to like it, thats cool whatever at least we arent calling each other names. If you were into Hardcore music back before "the scene" was "the scene" then it might make more sense. Now that all of it has gotten put back together with the generic title of "metal" it has lost my interest. All my favorite bands that I used to see in small clubs of 250 people or less are now playing in huge festivals in amphitheaters. I liked it better when they showed up in a broken down van to play a show at a small club and begged fans to let them come over just so they could take a shower. I just gauged my butt hole. But seriously if you don't like them then don't read this thread. No ones in the show me your tattoo thread saying that tattoos are gay. To each there own. |

Went from a 16 to a 8 then a 4 in 2 days on my tounge. Did my lip and eyebrow at home with needles. But never got around to doing ears before I grew up. Didn't wanna be the father at school with metal all over his face so all are gone now and I can talk normal again.

I went to 1/2" long ago when it wasn't something you see often or main stream, only did one lobe because stretching is painful...but off to the corporate world I went and all of the ear stuff was out (even in IT some things tend to be some what harder for older or conservative people to handle). 2 years later the next job I was asked to either bandaid my ear or put something in it. Luckily every job since has not had an issue with the simple solid 4ga SS plug. 11 years it went from 1/2" to 4ga and just doesn't shrink no more, to be honest even the 4 ga is loose now. Would I do it again, heck yes, but I knew about the lack of full shrink even then. I think I miss the first known industrial piercing in Michigan more than the 1/2 plug...but that was really shocking to my first corporate world job and thats healed over. |

I remember standing in line at Taco Bell (about 10 years ago). The guy in front of me had way stretched out earlobes. I was trying to figure out what he had sticking in them............I knew I had seen them before..........They were about 3" diameter, 2" tall on the sides.........Hollow in the back with a smaller ring inside.........Oh $hit! They were spray paint lids! |

I agree strongly with some ppl The huge stretched ears are just plain nasty my tattoo guy can put a baseball in his ear A 0 gauge is perfect not too big and it will close to a normal earring size I can handle 26 hours of tattoos but i can't handle a 0 gauge taper brought to you by a not so smart... smart phone |

The trick is just pulling on it and slowly getting it to loosen up, just dont pull one direction or it could be uneven. Also it helps to leave your current plug out for a couple hours first, it starts to shrink but when you stretch it back out it is much easier to go bigger. Also take a hot shower or just dip your ear in a cup of hot water...Oh and of course some lube! | |
