Virus alerts on RCC

Every time I get on RCC my anti virus alerts me that it has blocked high severity intrusions by web attacks. So it seems to be working. Im happy for that. As far as the attack, I have no clue why. Its been happening every time for the last week.

we had a multi page thread about teh rcc virus a while back. Its usually the "fake alert" virus, it took down my pc twice. My bet is, its one of those old ad's at the top.

Yeah what's the deal? Does anyone on RCC want to respond to this?

Get tapatalk on your phone and use that.

Does it happen as soon as you open the site? Only on specific pages?

Its an issue with linking pictures; photobucket, flickr and all those sites people insert crap on the jpgs and bam this will happen. Use the membership photo storage and be better off and help prevent people from these.

i wish my virus software would have stopped it, but yesterday it got me. it was a malware that disquised itself as a fake virus software called Win7 internet security. luckily my software was able to get rid of it before it did anything major

This probably is adware and not a virus.
Those photo sites are poluted with adware and tracking bots. Could be it.

Re: Virus alerts on RCC

i had to add another profile on Mozilla Firefox to keep it from crashing every time it came up. Added AVG and its found the threat, a fake virus with its own av program spoof. bastards even wrote it to invade and bury in your restore folder and pop up even when you revert back to a clean save.

cleaned up easy on a Vista OS but has been a constant aggravation on my XP OS.

Trojan warnings just started popping up for me... must be infection day.

I have found that Malwarebytes takes care of it, you can get a free trial version thru cnet.

Just use plugins like adblock plus and noscript, then visit the rccrawler.com homepage and click a link once in awhile. "thumbsup"

On pages, but random ones. It hasn't happened on the same page twice yet.
