Default Test Vehicle #1

This is the platform that I am using to test electrics for Midweight bashers. Right now it has a 1300W Lehner Basic XL 5000 motor in it geared 25/87. It really isnt blistering fast on 7 cells, although the tires ballon up like mad. I need to get my GPS on it to see how fast I think is still slow. A little lower gearing might speed it up.

Right at 6.5 pounds with 7 cell GP 3700's.
Quark 125 controller
Lehner XL 5000 motor- this motor is huge and drains the batts fast
25/87 gearing
a bit more than 10 minutes runtime giving it hell
Motor hit 142F
ESC hit 144F

Is that a pede?
It looks sweet what ever it is.
I'm interested in that controller. How do you like it. Is it as smooth as the 33?
Get a real f'ing motor in there.

Yeah, a Fast Lane Machine Stampede.

The controller is pretty smooth. Smoother than my old Shulze controller by far. It still gives a kick at first, but that could be my high gearing.

A real motor? I have a couple more on the way- from cheap and cheeful to Gucci "I cant believe anybody would spent that much on a motor". Im gonna see how this motor lights up on 9 cells though. It pushed my emaxx past 40, so I know it can make a pede haul.

Not on 6-7 cells.
I was running a hacker c40 6t in my rusty. Fast on 6cells.
I want to get another GUCCI setup for some speed. I miss my emaxx.:(

That looks awful similar to my pede, only I have stock knuckles, and a simple SS5800 (for now, hoping to get a Lehner setup eventually). You need a real bumper though, my RPM has saved me more times than I can count.

I've got one of those FLM 'pedes too. Maybe I'll be contacting you in the near future about buying a motor and controller. Very nice setup as always John.

Yes clodcrawlin, it is a swami bar. It has held up through some hella abuse. I wish it tied into the chassis, but it does have the deflector front.

I tried to fit the 30T in there Dez, but it wouldnt fit. The motor plate is a losi adaptation shoehorned to the pede tranny. I would have to go lower on the spur, and then throw the 30 on

Judging from the temps, I could go steeper on the gearing still. Under 150F the entire run for grass, street, and a steep hill is good though. I like everything under 150F at all times for longevities sake.

If anybody is interested, another motor should be in for testing in about a week. It costs more than 2x the cost of the 380C-6L. Gucci power, lightweight, 90%+ efficiency. It might be a trick getting it on a tranny though, depending if it is a finned can or smooth can.

Did some more work on her last night. Changed the suspension, as #1 handled like crap and exhibited a saggy bottom.

Rear shocks are maxx sized with Losi hard blues. The motor is pretty heavy, and needed some support. I handbuilt the battery, wasn't too hard.

You should install rear steer so you can actually drive it at full speed.

No kiddin. It really lifts the fronts up.

I regeared and ran it 17/87. Combination grass and street.
Top speed felt about the same. GPS doesnt get reception in front of my house.
Motor ran 142F solid
ESC ran 122F when it was warmed up
Wheelies on command like mad

Runtime was around 15 minutes and I stopped because one tire had flung loose. One little jump sent the tire sailing off and rolling away 30 ft down the yard.

I will play with the gearing some more, but getting more power from this motor will require a higher voltage. 9 cells will be constructed to suit.
