Who would have thought that 30 minutes with a hand file would make this happen? I have some delrin that will become the battery trays. Just need to steal some electrics from vehicles I dont run anymore and install maxx shafts to mate tranny and diffs. I should have it running in a few days. After the speed runs, I will get a large outrunner on it for rock racing.

That will depend on how how much power I throw at it. I have a nice Neu 1515-1Y. 12 ounces of raw power. 2 hp continous, 3.5hp+ peak. The limiting factor becomes the batteries. Im gonna shoot for 60mph. | |

This is one of those projects I've got in my head that I really want to do. I really like how the Revos run and I love the idea of making it electric and having a bl motor in there. Always fun to see an idea done. Makes me want to start searching for a cheap revo roller. |

You can get conversions from RC-monster too, but they are pricey.

Yup, I've seen them. I figure it is easy enough to make a motor mount plate like I did on my t-maxx turned emaxx. The rest is just a matter of dremeling away what I don't want. |

gorilla maxx makes a REALLLLLY nice electric revo conversion. it does't come cheap, but i've seen one in person, and the quality is top notch and worth every cent... www.gorillamaxx.com the one i saw was running dual novak brushless set-ups, with 28 Ni-MH's.... |

Ok so... I'm gonna ask a question I've been meaning to ask for a while.. I'm old... I haven't done R/C in a while.. back in the day I had gold RC10s, clod, blackfoot, JRXT... etc... If I did this... http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...q=revo&pl=true ...to any of those cars they'd be in 100 pieces.... Are Revos really this strong? The ones in the video seem pretty stock. I know my RC18 wouldn't like to be beaten that hard for sure. If they can stand up to this as "regular driving" I think I'll have to pick one up.. EP of course. -Jay EDIT: One other thing... If you are gonna do this, check out the emoli cell threads on rcgroups... Those seem like the cells you should use for this, not NiMH. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...ighlight=emoli http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...ighlight=emoli http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...&highlight=POP The basics... 3.5v per cell, 2900mah, run them 'till they're pretty flat, "hard" case is better than lipo, charge at up to 3C, no reports of fires or anything, charge with a standard lipo charger, 100grams per cell, $13-$15 per cell depending on who you get the packs from. it's really a dang shame that traxxas never released an electric version of this from the factory. the suspension set-up is quite impressive... JRH....one thing, though after looking at your handy work. aren't you worried about a fairly high COG on that thing with the tranny on top of the center chassis channel, there?? just a thought.... if that's the case, you're best bet is to try and find a revo roller used then. i'm sure revo's should be popping up cheap with the intro of the 3.3.... |

But that's only once I've gotten an answer to my video... Is *that* what revo's can do? I don't need another R/C... but if I can jump it off a 20' cliff then I think I might need to pick one up. -Jay |

At least the first one in that vid seemed to have a lot of RPM plastic, and aluminum upgrades, but jumps like that aren't uncommon with the guys that bash them over at BYT. Pretty much what I see on the forums there, is if you can drive well enough to land on all fours, and not run into stuff they're a durable truck, and there's no shortage of hop ups.

yeah, revo's are stout. I wouldnt doubt if the arms were rpm plastic though I have thought about the CG, and making a custom motor plate would solve the issue. The only problem I forsee is the power of the motor I am applying. It cant be a hack job, and it has to be very stiff. I will run it as-is and see what happens first. |
