Scammed by Colby Cummings in Oregon

Anyone know this guy? He lives in Aumsville OR. I paid for a used Savage Flux Hp and the guy never shipped it!! I am now out $700 and I have nothing to show for it. We spoke everyday for 4 days about the sale and now that he has my money he wont answer calls or texts. I think he is like 27yrs old and I have his home address and cell number. Please help!!

I am not sure if he is on rcc or not. He told me in one of our many conversations that he was into crawlers and that's why he was selling his flux!! I did not use payapl!! Damn, that sounds really stupid huh!! Thanks for the other thread!!

I had a guy "send" me a money order once for some bully axles. The money order never showed up. He claimed that it was sent. I felt like shit for the guy, but then again it was out of my hands.

Now that I think about it I wonder if he was trying to pull the wool over my eyes too

I sent the money western union!! I have proof thy I sent it and that he picked it up using his id!! The local cops in Oregon told me that I have to file charges in my town??? Seems like nobody cares. I wouldn't do that ro anyone. I sell alot of rc stuff and have great feedback. Maybe this douche bag will surface in the next few days or my flux will show up.

I know the feeling!..although mine wasn't $700 but it sucks either way knwing someone got you for your money!

You might get lucky but if you don't,just take it as a lesson learned and you need to jump on paypal.com RIGHT NOW and get you a profile started!

Any info on this guy you find out,post everything up so we know incase he tries it again.

It was craigslist!! I know, it was stupid. I run nitro trucks now but I wanted to switch to electric and I had been looking for a few weeks. I do have paypal, I buy and sell rc stuff all of the time. I should have backed out when he didn't have paypal. He told me that he built and sold custom tube chassis for crawlers all of the time, that's why I posted here. Figured I might get lucky. There can't be that many Colby Cummings In aumsville OR. I have spoken to him several times and have at least 20 texts from him.

I hope that this comes back to get him. I would never do this to someone who has the RC bug!!!

Basher77, Really? So let's get this straight.
You start a thread in RCC asking people for help?
You don't support the website you asking for help on!
But yet you payed a guy $700.00 a Money order for a truck you have yet to see?

If you have his address, phone number, and proof he picked it up.
then just file a police report in your own town.

And just some friendly advice for future purchases on your behalf or anyone that reads this.

Good advice to follow in making purchases:
1. When making purchases on RCC, it is wise for you to check a members feedback.

2. Not everyone has high feedback based on several reasons.
A. Doesn't sell very much
B. Is new to the forums
C. Has a habit of bad selling ethics. (Slow shipping, bad communication, not shipping what is being sold)

Use your gut feelings, if its too good to be true. It probably is.

3. Do not send payment as a gift! (Sellers, if you want payment as a gift because of paypal fee's. Include paypal fees to your transactions.)

4. In my experience, if a seller can't take the time to post a freaking picture of what they are selling, I don't have the time to waste on a could be sale.

5. Though, not a golden rule. A seller with a supporting star is far less likely to screw you over. Sure its inly $20.00 for a supporting star, but still less likely.

6. Even more so, far less likely to be ripped off by someone involved it the hobby. ( goes to comps, is assc. w/ a hobby shop, has been here awhile and is involved in being a serious asset to the community)

Smart purchases will lessen the chances of you getting screwed. All though this is not 100%. Its less likely to happen.
I trust my wife, doesn't mean she doesn't take $20.00 from my wallet either!

But seriously Basher77, file the police report.
Unless its someone we personally know, no one is gonna do anything a out it for you. including, w/out proof.
It is after all, just your word that this happened to you.
