| Original AX-10 Scorpion
I just got an original Axial Scorpion kit, betty body kit, not rtr, new in a sealed box with some other items in a trade. Do you think this kit is going to be collectable in the future? Like keep it as is and hope? What do you all think its worth right now. I'm not looking to sell it, just thought some insite from fellow crawlers would be a start. They are discontinued, and actually look to be hard to find even now. I now it's not Bruiser in a box territory, but maybe down the road? LMK your thought on this. |

As with just about everything RC at some point someone will want one. Right now it wouldn't be worth what it cost new IMO.... They mad a lot of them and most of us that we're crawling then still have just about every part in those kits laying around still.

If you took the price of a new Bruiser and put it in the bank in 1984, you'd have the same "OMG iz rich!" money as the NIB's get today. Build it, drive it, mod it. They're only toy trucks. |

Maybe if you put a Star Wars sticker on it it will be worth more later. Otherwise build and play.

It might be valuable in about 20 years when someone goes "Wow, I remember the old AX10 kit I had as a kid, wish I could get one now". Seems to be that way with most collectibles, adults with a bit of extra cash in their pockets trying to recapture some of their youth. Is it worth holding on to for that length of time, or would you get more fun out of taking it out and building it up now? That's up to you. |

I'd build a TTC truck with it. The fun and laughs you get, will far outpace any monetary gain you might see in 20 years. As microgoat once said, "They're only toy trucks". |

Great replies as was expected. I have enough parts here to put this kit together also. And I still have one running super duty tuber. Once you crawl, you really cant stop from there. I was just thinking about the long term worth as the "Wow I remember those" comment was suggesting. This basically cost me nothing in the long run. I made money off of the rest of the swap. I'm a buyer and seller of all things, mainly vintage COX .049 cars for myself, but any vintage wheeled to,y Smith Miller, Steelcraft etc will work for me. This was just a "wonder if it will ever be worth anything" thought. It is one of the first kit style rock crawlers. I can see it being built box stock someday to go w my other box stock Bruiser, blazer etc... Thanx for all the input. |
