Prepping a 5 year old for a trail run.

My girlfriend has a 5 year old daughter that has never been camping.
her first camping trip will be a wheeling trip. just a weekend on a nice family oriented trail.
still could be scary for a 5 year old.

So her and I have been in the backyard with the clod crawler showing her how things work.

I was amazed at the questions she had. willwe be driving slow over big stuff like that?
What if we get stuck like your little truck just did?
What if we break something?

I never new my little rc crawler would help her and I get conversations going about my full scale crawling.

I let her know what happens if we get stuck I told he rI bring stuff to fix my jeep on the trail.

So far she seems ok.

I've been letting mom handle the bathroom in the woods part of it though.

I guess she'd rather go out side now than inside.

looks like I have a trooper!

If you can, let her watch your 1:1 rig crawl so she can see how safe and controlled it can be, ummm controlled within reason that is. :) after all it is a sport and she needs to be educated in the dangers which it seems your doing good at informing her what to expect. Stress to her what to do if your rig should roll, such as cross arms and other things.

I'm looking forward to our son's first crawl, he's not ready yet but I'm working on it.

have fun and be safe, even if you have to take things down a knotch.

good luck man

Oh yah the roll over if it were to happen.

I don't plan to roll the jeep but you never know when it's going to happen.

her mom has been trained to not grab the rollcage she grabs the grab bar and leans in.

I plan on having mom and maddy get out on the more difficult sections.

1st for safety
2nd for pictures
3rd so the little one can get an outside comfy view of what is happening.

thats awsome. great to see that she's taking an interest in it. what kind of rig do you have? you might want to go over the features of you rig to show here thats its safe and not going to brake. given she wouln't understand any of the stuff really, but show like seat belts and what not.

i think kids have more fun on wheelin trips than adults... took my 2 year old daughter out on a quick 20 mile run out in the desert on the Barstow Main course, and at about 40mph, we were hitting whoops and launching the truck, and she was in her car seat, hands and feet up in the air, yelling WHEEEEEEEEEEE the whole time... totally tripped me out as I was expecting to see vomit and tears pouring out from her... haha...

So my club and I are famous :D

the video is called Gription. great footage of my exhaust leak in one of the scenes. I shot Most of the rock race footage for my buddy that put the video together. He Usually makes Desert Racing videos but put a crawling video together after he went wheeling with us a few times.

The 3b is not Locked. it has limited slips front and rear. they seem to work like lockers
It seems to go pretty much everywhere I point it. Well the ground clearance and wheelbase get me on the larger obstacles.
