Default Took a spill at the bike park today.

They built a new ramp at the bike park. My friend had done it before, and I never have. I got too much speed and did not know how much air I would have gotten. This is the result:

Just a big scrape above my elbow, luckily no broken bones.

We had a jam session a few years ago at some trails one of the guys got wasted and jumped the rhythm section as he went through the section he started leaning a little bit more and more as he worked through the section until he did what you did. It always makes me laugh.

I heard an "oh sh!t." This is what happens when you're multitasking down a horse trail on your mountain bike. I was fine 'till I got in the shower. It'll heal.

Ha! Right before I told my friend, even if I crash it will be good footage. Guess I jinxed myself.

Seems as though thats the reaction to everyone's crashes, good ol' laughing.

My worst crash....and unfortuantely I don't have it on video....was off a teeter-totter. We were riding one of local 6.5 mile loop trails one Saturday and they had recently put up a new teeter totter. I'd ridden across it a couple times about 2 weeks before, so I knew what to expect. Well, this particular day there were about a dozen people standing around watching others cross it. So I come around the corner, line up for the crossing, start up the side that's down, get to about the middle where it pivots, and bam! I fall off the left side on my face. I layed there for a few moments as I hear everyone else gasp, "oh shit", etc. and try to regain my bearings. One guy helps me up and we check everything out. No broken bones, a swollen left cheek bone, which leads to a black eye, some scratches down the left side of my face, but I'm otherwise okay. I pick up my bike, check for damage, hop back on, and continue riding. Even tried the teeter-totter again and was successful.

After we finished riding, we were putting the bikes back on the rack and taking off riding gear when I inspected my helmet. Wasn't until then that I realized I cracked it in the fall. All the way through cracked. Felt pretty lucky at that moment. $40 helmet saved me a concussion and a trip to the hospital. Drove from the trail to the bike shop and spent $180 on a new Giro Xen helmet and another $30 on a Giro helmet pod.

They've saved my skull a few times on my quad, too. Didn't do much for the burn on my right calf, though.

That was a weak jump and a weak bail.

All I got was a scrape, if you went off it, you would have broke your old back.

You were barely a foot off the ground! Go do it again and don't chicken out and try to bail.

Also, don't ever take your feet off of the pedals right before you land. That is a 100% guarantee that you will fall.

That sure looks like "barely a foot off the ground".

Totally agree. "Hardcore gaming" is the thing now. My 15 year old son showed me a jump he does on his bmx and said, "that is the big jump I was talking about". I didn't want to break his spirit so I replied, "nice". But I was thinking, if that is big, my son is a puss. disappointed father...

Actually it does, say your back wheel is 24" diameter, your back tire is only about half a wheels diameter from the ground.

I do have to agree on the jump. Maybe a foot off the ground.

This is how you jump:

This isn't me, but it's my Raptor 350 hangin' in the air. Rider is my youngest brother-in-law and the "ramp" was about 4' tall. I snapped this pick over Easter in 2010. He launched the bike about 45 feet on that attempt. Later that day he launched my Raptor 700 53.5 feet!
