Default WARCRC future comp site postings

there will be no more posting of comps on nw-wheelers

I feel "we" as a club should just stick to a RC crawling forum. Our club doesn't fit with what the forum is all about.

all comps will be posted on RCC and I am thinking about creating our own club web site.

All to be discussed at the August 12 comp.

I am resigning my moderator position also on nw-wheelers and will not be supporting the RC section anymore myself very much.

all club members can do what they want of course.

thanks to all who has supported the local sub forum and has helped get RC crawling comps started in western WA.

without you guys this would still not be happening as good as it has already.

see you all at the August 12 comp to discuss future plans for WARCRC.

It's not a whole WA state club, I started the club 2 years ago with me and my step son. Wich part of that do you not understand?? There for the name is defiantly taken, sorry.

WARCRC as a club is having a meeting at the next comp to vote in delegates and set up club rules for members.

So far everybody who has competed in all the comps we have held are members in my eyes.

The club is for competitors, in the Seattle area. We might even vote on a club name change if it becomes a problem. Besides, who else in WA state "is" holding comps??

Later D

and just to clarify, anybody is welcome to a WARCRC sponsored comp.

the comps are not closed to club members only, don't get the wrong idea.

You are more than welcome to any of the ORCRC Comps.... ORCRC stands for Oregon R/C Rock Crawlers, which means anyone from Oregon & surounding areas can claim to be apart of, not just the Portland area folks We'll even give ya a sticker for making the long trek. Hell.. We have Tater-Land folks coming over all the time. We're about dishing out LOVE and HUGS to fellow crawlers, old or young, good skills or bad skills....trust me, we have plenty of folks with bad skills and killer rigs

Hell... one of our comps was in WA and not in OR. Back in April we were just West of Stevenson, WA in The Gorge.

Do you not think anyone else does the same? I started ORCRC back in '03 by myself with only myself to represent. Then Ryan and Dan came along. With Ryan's help we have grown. Ryan and I have both spent our own money to make things happen...Ryan runs ORCRC.com and I run the ORCRC Forum through my website which I pay for with my own money, no one else helps. After 3 years we have made many friends, we hang out together and plan these events with each other. We all help make things happen together. We have been doing the Comp scene the longest in the US and it does take a ton of effort to make things happen, is it worth it? Hell yes. It's the best to see a fresh face come out for their first comp and have fun.... that's what it's about, FUN.

I thought WARCRC stood for Washington R/C Rock Crawlers, not Seattle Metro area crawlers..... ?

Like I stated, a name change could be a real possibility.

I'll let the guys at the comp decide, guys who crawl around here are way to spread out. and eastern WA and western WA are like 2 different states, this isn't Oregon.

and I personally am not traveling all over the state to compete, anybody can do what they want.

but again, the majority can decide on that too.

how long has Oregon been holding comps??

I talked to a 1;1 competitor from UT at Goldendale that said they have been competing with RC crawlers since 99'.

'99? Naw... unless they saw it on the Discovery Channel

Many of us got together and crawled/bashed before ORCRC became a club/group...... ORCRC's first real spot on the internet was on the now de-funked YahooGroups page... and that started in 10/2003 by me. Our first Comp was held at High Rocks Park on 4/11/2004. I was the guy to beat back then. Good 'ol days with Da-Juggy!

We had a decent turn out for not really having a spot to get the word out yet. RCC was still a very quiet spot on the internet, only 3 months old then & no one really knew about it. Only 4 trucks were from the Portland area then, the group from Salem(40 miles away) had the largest number of people. We had many get togethers and few comps in Salem which was a 180 mile trip for me. I lived the farthest away back then.

True dat.

I think the only guys that may have you beat are the Aussies-they've been having comps sence the begining of time.

We did the first Green River on 8/6/04, I only know of 2 other comps that where held before that stateside (not including the first Highrocks). One was in California, and the other one was in Georgia.

Wow!.
I for one hope to see dedicated website for the club REAL SOON though.
I would really hate to see the momentum fizzle.

I myself will not be able to make the Aug 12th comp as I will be wheeling the 1:1 rig that weekend. I will be at comp the following weekend though.
I'm bummed that I would be able to give my .02 at the comp.

Next comp should be really interesting, I can't wait to see what everybody has to say. What I think Dude is saying is that everybody who wants to run would be welcome at any WARCRC comp. The actual club members would be the ones to decide on comp rules, locations, schedules, to represent the club with the USRCRC, and to establish and maintain the "direction" of the club.

As for membership guidelines / eligibility, one idea to consider is following the model of several 1:1 clubs in the area. Perspective members must first be "sponsored" by an existing member in order to become a candidate. Then they must attend at least a minimum number of events in a set time, so the membership gets to know what they are about. At the end of their candidacy, there is a member vote. There's also the idea of having basically open membership, but the club being would be led by a smaller "steering" committee.

The location thing is a really tough nut to crack. Many of us don't have the time in our schedule to make a possible 2+ hour drive once a month to get to a point scoring event. It would really be great to have enough crawlers in the PNW that smaller groups can hold local comps, and then have three or four big combined events each year to bring everybody together. Maybe one in OR, one in the Puget Sound area, and one in Eastern WA. These would be the events that everybody wanted to attend. I remember from my racing days traveling to the Hank Perry or Summer Shootout races, or events like the Summer Sizzler over here. Those we some of my favorite times in RC. (I sucked then too, but it was still fun).
