One of my coworkers just had somebody call looking to make their own LiPo batteries..........not separate cells to assemble mind you, he was looking for the materials to make his own LiPo cells |

So are you trying to tell us that we can't buy that stuff in a squeezy tube?

Its not so difficult to do DIY with a little gumption, as long as the volumes are low. The only real trouble is getting ahold of the raw materials to do it and keeping contaminants out of the process. The separator is nasty though, I would gladly pay for raw cells to keep from handling that junk! I wouldn't want to spend so much time bringing all the anode and cathode layers together either, the process is designed for automation and not hand assembling. You work in a battery plant BJoe? |

I work for a HobbyTown, don't even know where to look for that kind of stuff around here........though the guy looking for thermite to burn iron out of cement at my store, then getting pissed when we didn't have it was odd.

Lol at selling thermite on the shelf! It is a LOT easier to make than rolling your own batteries, that is for sure!

Are you sure he wasn't looking to short-cut disassembling Li-Po batteries from Walmarts so he could cook meth more efficiently...?

During my stint at HobbyTown, the meth heads bought test tubes and boiling flasks from the science stuff, went home cooked/got high, then came back to get fuzzy posters to aimlessly spend hours on end coloring F'n unicorns and horses. Strangely, we also had a couple of customers ask about thermite. One of the thermite guys also got pissed because we didn't carry old style model rocket fuse and raw chemicals. Hopefully he blew himself up before he reproduced.
