| The Elephant In The Living Room
So the topic is exotic pets. The title is a documentary I watched recently and a topic thats being debated right now in VA. And "exotic pet" is being defined as reptile to large mammal (snake or lizzard to lion or bear). Discuss..... |

I watched documentary, probably the same or similar, I got so pissed had to turn it after watching people selling puff adlers and baby crocs to general public. And this old disabled man who owned a lion and lioness. Had them in a freakin horse trailer(had escaped previous enclosure)and was willing to die to keep them. I don't get it...

Local state patrol was called to the mail box(on the highway) of a local puppy mill after mailman called and said chimpanzees were running loose and aggressive. Ended up shooting one of chimps. Didn't even know it was possible round here...

| Re: The Elephant In The Living Room I like fish, I used to have several aquariums full, it was just the first thing that popped in my head when you mentioned pets you could not interact with. I don't really like the fact of anyone being able to own anything that could be more dangerous than a dog or house cat if it got loose. |

i keep tarantulas, would be considered exotic? they arent dangerous..cool to look at ..like fish, alot of tarantulas are on the cites list(endangered) so most now are captive bred. i dont think people should be owning primates or large predators like lions and tigers..even large reptiles like the bigger constrictors..florida is overun with them as people have released them and they thrive |

I have two Boa Constrictors that I house. I used to be into larger reptiles but got tired of the up keep. To me I would rather regulate dumb people to prevent them from having kids. I do believe that to house dangerous and deadly animals that there should be certain requirements met in order to house these animals. Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk 2 |

I have a 5' ball python and he has a great personality. During the day he is usually sleeping but If he hears/senses that we are home he will come up to the top of his enclosure to be let out. Funny when I was with my x wife we would take him out and he would crawl around your neck and head just chilling. But as soon as my x picked him up he would pee on her....to this day he has not peed on anyone else.

Yeah but then that opens the door to what defines a dangerous animal. Everthing down to regular old cats & dogs could picked apart. Oh and Ive rethought my previous comment on interaction, I guess getting mauled could be considered interacting. | |
