I ride a bicycle or electric bike to work every day I can. Really expensive on the fuel

Is it ironic that most of the people who REALLY need to be "riding bikes" or using alternate modes of transportation it isnt feasible for? I mean people driving vehicles that get poor MPG (i.e. trucks) and drive high miles every day, they are the ones who really need to be pedaling. People who live in the city like to brag about biking and driving a prius when its not really a strain on them in the first place.

Oh, around here right now it 3.50'ish and I have seen up to a 10 cent fluxuation overnight.

20% where I live.

All of the funding from those social programs you guys have must come from somewhere....

Comparing gas prices from one country (or state) to the next is like comparing apples to oranges.

Oh, around here right now it $3.50'ish and I have seen up to a 10 cent fluctuation overnight.
For grins, I looked up doing a local bus to work (which is ~23 miles each way for me driving myself, 30-45 minutes depending on traffic & conditions).
I can't get to work from where I live, I have to go to a larger town 20+ miles away (takes 2 buses) then head back out to work (takes 1 or 2 buses) for another 20+ miles.
This would take me anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours EACH WAY, cost is $10+ EACH WAY.

Doing a train is way worse for me.

Riding a bicycle is rather long since my "normal way to work" is highways and bicycles are not allowed. So now I'm stuck taking the "scenic route" to get to work.

Sooo.....I would like public transportation to be an option, but it's a rather ridiculous option right now.

Then, when I rent a car, they piss that, "We're only paying mileage.....".

WTF.

I need something local where I can go ride a bicycle.

Sidenote, while I complain about gas (~$3.80/US gallon in NNJ), it's higher in NY, a bit higher in CT and MUCH higher in NYC.

I will drop a few bucks in one place so I can get to lower gas prices.

I get nasty emails when I break $1000 a week in fuel in my work truck (f-450 gets about 8 on a good day. But I got news that a new Freightliner Work truck is in my future, so that might get better mileage. )

On a side note regular is still under $4 here. Or at least last time I looked. Diesel is $4.10.

Fuel Perks at Giant Eagle saved me $1.40 a gallon this time, so I paid $2.20 a gallon. Though I almost always pay whatever I have to for Shell gasoline. Always use Shell gas, always use Pennzoil oil.

One of the local grocery stores we shop at has "perks" with a near by gas station but the most we've ever saved was 50-60c /gallon, which brings it down to close to $3/g depending on price. Most of the time its only 10-20c, still every bit helps.

As for brand it doesnt really matter, its all E10 around here so its all garbage.
