Yeah, my dad was telling me about the rising state income tax out there. It looks like a lot of folks will be paying ~9%.......which means that your total taxes (Fed and State income and State sales) is pushing 50%.

Cali had the highest taxes of any state before that tax raise and we still are 20 billion dollors in det. I love cali but I'm really starting to hate the people in this state and don't even get me started on the gun laws here lol

Texas has plenty of openings. 0% State Income Tax, ~8% sales tax, regular old federal tax and we still are a donor state......oh, and you'll probably like the gun laws here too.

Oh im planning a 2 week road trip next May going to drive and check out everything from here to colorado. Been looking at Texas too!! the only thing I don't like about Texas is the heat lol seems to be a hot mother down there but thats every where now a days I guess lol.

Not at all. I buy groceries from a place that reduces their gas price 20 cents for every $50 you spend. Gas that day was $1.89

I have a friend whose wife goes crazy with it all and they often get gas for free.

If gas was $1.89 then one could get free gas if they purchased goods worth $472.5. But what was the limit for free gas?

Exactly it's all a wash in the end. We have local places that do the same but their groceries are higher priced than the others.

My aunt doesn't drive anymore so my mom drivers her to everything. She gives my mom her gas savings so she doesn't have to buy the groceries to get the gas savings so it works well for her. The savings is usually only good to 30 gallons so you can't pull up with a 500 gallon tank in the bed of a pickup truck.

Same here, last few winters I was spending $40-$60 A WEEK!!!! to fill my XJ. The past few weeks, I've spent $71 total to fill the thing

Buy one get one (like chicken, beef, veggies) and buy things "on sale" only. They also send me coupons for free loaf of bread and carrots that I use. I know their game. I try to play it as best as I can.

And, all the local large grocers do it.

That was December 28th of '14. Lowest in the area at that point, so not bad.

There's also that gift card flip for gas thing people do.
