Baltimore region here, it's gonna get ugly. The winds will knock down trees, snapping the power lines. The state gov't has already declared a state of emergency. GL to everyone in the direct path.

Yard work and tree trimming is done. Same with food and gas.. Just need to button a few things up before it rains tomorrow. I'm right in the middle of the path but far enough in land. Hopefully it will be big on hype and not wind/rain.

Almost everything is done outside, just a few more "nice to do" items left.

I will be north of the center (NY/NJ border towards the east), so I'm in an area that is going to get hit hard.

Sorta good news is I'm on a hillside, so flooding is not really an issue (other than a stream through the property).
I'm also on the backside of the hill, so it's between me & the coast.

I'm more worried about guys like Dez, Turbofest & Cory since they're down by the NJ coast, Dez is close to the water. Others from here & GSRCRC are inland or in PA.

Powers of the tattoos and charming smile should save them.

Is there a chance the Jersey Shore cast will be wiped away? Please.

Went right by us for a change (Myrtle Beach area). Got some good surf, a little rain and still have some windy stuff. Overall not bad. Good luck Northeast.

Philly area here. Wind has started and all set for the power outage.
Got the notice that no school for the next 2 days so will be home with my girls.

Got the yard work done yesterday and food supplies are done.
Hope our 2 large ponds can hold the rain.
Front yard will be a lake by Tuesday. Will have pics up if possible.

Good luck to everyone else in its path.

It's just getting started, The Army Nat'l Guard is already out around the city to keep the looties back in their gov't hi-rises, the news is reporting that the major power utility, BG&E, is already saying that just about EVERYONE will have the power knocked out by tomorrow evening, schools are closed for the next 2 day at the minimum, ect....

I'm personally worried about the big oak trees in the back yard, they will take out half of the house if they get blown down. I have a deep cycle battery back up system for the sump pump to keep the basement dry. All I can do is deal with whatever gets tossed at me.

what am I missing? All the forecasts are saying 35-45mph winds with 70mph gusts and 5" of rain total... Here in the midwest we get storms with that wind for 2-3 days at a time and get that kind of rain total's in an hr or less at times (had 3 this summer with 6"+ dumped in an hr).

I understand that with hurricanes, the biggest issue is the storm surge and this one is hitting at high tide. That explains right along the coast but not why there is a freakout going on hundreds of miles away from the coast.

Im on "hurricane watch" at work in case there are huge outages etc... Should I really be expecting to be working some long nights? Or is everyone paranoid after Katrina?

News builds it up all week, people on location with rain coats on and its not even raining yet, showing 20 different paths it may take and the worst that could happen, I swear they have stock in Homedepot and the supermarket. My kids school was called off and the Gov. has already declared a state of emergency.
