Time for a new phone, what would you recommend?

My fiance' and I are combining our cell phone accounts and she is upgrading her phone, I'm also due for an upgrade and was playing around with some phones yesterday. I currently have a jailbroken 32GB iPhone4 and it suits me just fine, it now does everything I need it to so I don't have to upgrade, but I can. I was looking at a few other phones and have read some reviews but want some firsthand real world opinions on people that have them. Here are the ones I was looking at:

Nokia Lumia 920 (Windows 8)
Windows phone 8x by HTC
Samsung Galaxy Note II (although much more expensive)

I understand the Windows phones are running a newer OS and there are growing pains associated with that and they also have much fewer apps than Apple. I really like the larger screen the Nokia had and I've read some comparison views on the 8x and the Nokia. A couple guys at work have the Galaxy and they really like them. I guess it really comes down to whether Windows 8 mobile is worth jumping from the Apple train for. There is no way I'll get the iPhone 5, Apple totally missed the mark by not making the screen bigger proportionally and it just flat out isn't worth it.

If you think there is a better option let me know!

I'm pretty impressed with my galaxy s3, the only complaint is battery life at the end of the day its usually at 50% and my old iPhone 3gs was maybe 70%.. but everything else about it is noticeably better. Android has better Apps IMO.

I have the iPhone 5 and I think it is a very good upgrade. The screen while not as large as some to me it is a good size from being to big to carry easy. I stick with apple because of just how well the phone works and the quality. I always upgrade and when able and sell my old phone for enough for my upgrade. Different strokes for different folks but I love the 5.

I didn't even see the S III there, maybe I missed it. The iPhone 5 just doesn't have enough new features to make me want it, and for the price I feel it's not a contender for all the hype.

Don't get me wrong I like the iPhone, it was tough and durable, but yeah there definitely seems to be nothing new on the 5 that you cant get on any other phone.

If I were to be reallly nit picky about the samsung, the volume and lock buttons arent in an ideal location, and I wish the headphone jack was at the bottom of the phone instead of the top, but that applies to all phones really. (cause when I have my phone in my pocket i like to have it top down cause then I dont need to re arrange it in my hand after I get it out of the pocket..)

If I were to get a new phone today. It would be the Note II.

I'll be replacing my phone soon with a Sony Go/advance....Its an unlocked phone, can't get it through a contract. Not the latest and greatest technology wise, but pretty damn tough, decent specs, and its small enough to fit in a pocket.

I have the Note and I love it. Once all of this Holiday shopping dies down a bit, I'll be trading it in for the Note II. I don't care what anyone says about the size. Once you get used to it, you'll never go back to a small phone.

Re: Time for a new phone, what would you recommend?

I've been reading and comparing the Note 2 to the Nokia 920 and surprisingly Windows 8 mobile has gotten good reviews. I've been an iPhone user from day one and know nothing about Android. What got me is the way Apple restricts you on almost everything hence the whole jailbreak scene came about. I had to jailbreak it just to change or get rid of things I didn't like. I know Android is very flexible but is it too flexible to where you get confused? I'll have to go back and play with the phone some more but the Note's interface did seem a little overwhelming where as the Windows 8 phones seemed a little more user friendly like the iPhone.

One other thing I'm keeping an eye on is the price. The Nokia is 99 and the Note 2 is 299. I know I can sell my iPhone for at least 150 but 299 is a lot to fork up at front till I sell my iPhone.

I've been an Apple user since day 1 aswell. Last week I got a S3. Holy Fack, what took me so long to change over!!

Its everything you want your Iphone to be but just isn't. Not confusing after day 2. Got it all sorted and can use it just fine. I am finding new great things everyday.

Screw you Apple!

I got a S3 as well. When it had Ice cream sandwich on it the device ran so well. After the upgrade to Jelly Bean it was a completely different creature. Uses a little more battery now but damn is it fast. The Note 2 is nice as well just a little to large for my taste.

I've been using a Nokia windows phone for a week. It's OK but not anything ground breaking. The Nokia has a micro sd slot where the HTC does not.
I think my old Blackberry is a smarter phone. But I'm still learning set up tricks on this.

My girlfriend has the Galaxy S3. If I didn't have the Note, I'd have an S3.

I have a Samsung Rugby 2......depends on how tough you need it, I guess.."thumbsup" I'd bust a "touch phone" the first week I had it. This works great for me.

Just realized the Note2 was $299 not 199. That's a little high for my budget right now.

Android Jelly Bean is the chitz. Lot's of great and easy to use apps. SIII and Nexus7 sync up easy to GoPro 3's with download from Google Play. A ton of apps from machining, to travel, movies, TV, etc.
