What the hell do they put in the water in Chicago?

Lot's of crazy ideas seem to originate there.

No, if you followed all the guidelines and still had a theft, I'd say you were in the clear.
But if you have guns sitting around, in your locked home, and they are stolen then yes.
I really don't get your reasoning dude... Even if I leave my gun laying on the coffee table and somebody breaks in and steals it, explain how that isn't the fault of the guy who broke in?!

Are you one of those thinkers who thinks it's wrong to keep score in Tee Ball too?

I'm still not seeing how making it harder, stricter, longer process, whatever for me to legally buy a gun will make it any different when a crook steals it?

the reasoning is:
If guns are locked up, they are less likely to be stolen.
If less guns are stolen, there will be less illegal guns on the street.
If there's less illegal guns on the street... well, I assume you can fill in the blank.

Ok, but you said it's somehow the homeowners fault if their guns aren't locked in a cabinet, but the house is entirely locked up and someone breaks in... Shouldn't the fault be placed on the burglar?!

of course the burglar is at fault for breaking in... but the point is to reduce illegal guns on the street.
I don't mind the inconvenience of locking them up if it prevents a school massacre.
I'm not saying that it will prevent all massacres but it couldn't hurt.

Personally I have a safe but if someone wants to keep a loaded Barrett on there kitchen table and lock the door and leave to me thats locked up.
There house should be considered there safe at that point.
And I also believe score should be kept in T-ball.And all kids that are old enough to play T-ball should be taught in the safe handling of firearms.

you can lock your guns in the best safe on the market and if I have an unlimited amount of time, I can get in it. My guns are locked in a safe, wedged in a closet... Give me a demo saw and 20 mins and I can have them all out if I don't care about damages.

All locking your stuff up does is slow a criminal. A safe is like a deadbolt, you use it as a deter-ant to the undetermined.

Round and round we go.

More gun laws don't prevent criminals from committing crimes with guns.

Again, I'll offer up Chicago with the most stringent gun laws in the Nation as an example. More children were killed in just the last year in Chicago than in the Sandy Hook massacre. Most people are not aware of this fact as the media doesn't seem interested in reporting it.

After all it shows just how ridiculouse their gun control agenda is.

To be honest, you seemed surprised and dismissive when it was pointed out to you.

So let's take the guns out of the equation and focus on the problem at hand.

Were does the vast majority of the violent crime that is committed in this Nation take place?

Who is it committing those crimes?

What political party is in control in these areas?

Which political party do the people who live in these high crime areas vote for?

Answer these questions truthfully and you'll find the answer to what is behind the violence.

Yes, leave the guns alone. Start keeping score in teeball, spank the kids butt when they need it.

IIRC, she was murdered with her own gun, so he already had access, which he shouldn't have.

The problem wasn't that she had weapons, it was that he had access to them.

Did he have access to them or did he kill her to get access to them.

True, but we don't know what took place between the time he accessed them and the time he used them to kill her.

On that all we can do is speculate.

For all we know, she had them locked in a vault and was forced to open it for him.

Point being, the fact that his mother owned firearms or how she stored them is not pertinent to the fact that her son murdered her, stole them, and used them to kill others.

Yep, speculation is a bitch.

However, if I came into your house and managed to get into the position of forcing you to open your gun safe to access your weapons, would you do it?

Ask yourself the same question.

I honestly don't know as I can't see it going well either way.

If you were to come into my home and attempt to force me to give you access to my firearms, I could only assume it was with the intent to do someone harm, and quite possibly harm to myself once I did.

So would I give you access? No. I may be dead either way, but if saying no means that you can not take my weapons and turn them on others, then that is what I have to do. That is the responsibility that I take on as a gun owner.

I agree. But it's not always cut and dry which is why I answer I don't know.

What if they were using your wife or child as a hostage and were threatening them?

Again, one can speculate what they would or wouldn't do. But no one knows for sure.
