Fwck gun control

I think it is just stuid to think that gun control is going to stop people from doing Crazy stuff.

I think we need to take all the energy we are putting into gun control and focus on.

Mental Health

If all these shooter had some mental health, they might not of done what they have done.

Just my opinion, don't shoot me.

Re: Fwck gun control

I agree 100%. I'm for better gun control, though that doesn't necessarily mean more...

Mental health goes under the radar so much its (no pun intended) crazy. Mix that with irresponsible gun owners and you'll get what we had this week...a mass killing and a horrible tragedy.

How do you spot the crazies until they do something crazy?

If they are a family member, you have to be smart enough yourself to have their behavioral issues properly checked. Even moreso if you keep guns in the house.

I've seen and lived with full tilt batshit crazy. It will scare the bejeezus out of you.

If this kid did in fact have Aspergers, and his parents knew it, and did nothing about it, then they are ultimately responsible for this current mess.

Re: Fwck gun control

Agreed!!!! I think there is alot more to this than the guns. If someone wants to kill another person, they are going to find a way with whatever weapon is available.

Most people that I've talked to about this aren't realizing that he is under the legal age to buy a handgun, so it was obtained illegally.

I know there is a lot of problems with people out there today and that is where we need to focus.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a tragedy in all accounts. I pray for those involved and wish them all healing.

FOCUSING on the problem is the key, not gun control.

I'm crazy , I have guns ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"I DO NOT" want to shoot anyone .
Hell, it tears me up to kill a injured animal.

As long as we keep telling the wack jobs "It's not your fault" and make excuses for them they will continue to nut up.

My guns do not ever say "Lets kill someone".

Thats where we need to focus, how to spot them. We need to teach how to read the signs. They are there, but most can't read them. That where our energy needs to go. In most of these cases at some point the shooters were reaching out, but no one saw the signs.

My wife is all about banning semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles. You should have seen her face when I told her how many AR-15's I had had in my hands this week. :ror:

My wife was shot in a driveby one month before the day we were married. I completely understand her stance on auto and semi-auto weapons. But I also know that guns don't shoot themselves, somebody has to be there to operate them. She just won't let that bit of rational seep into her head.

Maybe we should take a closer look at Japan's gun control policy.

Almost no one in Japan owns a gun. Most kinds are illegal, with onerous restrictions on buying and maintaining the few that are allowed. Even the country's infamous, mafia-like Yakuza tend to forgo guns; the few exceptions tend to become big national news stories.

The only guns that Japanese citizens can legally buy and use are shotguns and air rifles, and it's not easy to do.

In 2008, the U.S. had over 12 thousand firearm-related homicides. All of Japan experienced only 11, fewer than were killed at the Aurora shooting alone.

Handguns are forbidden absolutely. Small-caliber rifles have been illegal to buy, sell, or transfer since 1971. Anyone who owned a rifle before then is allowed to keep it, but their heirs are required to turn it over to the police once the owner dies.

OK let the bashing begin.

Yes, of cousre someone could do damage with knives and other weapons. Just throwing it out there for discussion.

Aspergers is not to blame for this...it is merely a mild form of Autism....and can be described as mild social awkwardness...some would say the person is simply "shy". I have a family member that has been diagnosed with Aspergers and the diagnosing and family counseling parts are what my wife does for a living.

Don't give them a choice! Lock up all the deviants. Don't have a facebook? More or less than 2.7 kids? Forwarding too many conservative e-mails? Holding onto outdated concepts like personal responsibility? You're going to mental health camp. In Siberia. For the rest of your life. And you'll like it.

Agreed, but mental difficulties rarely come in single forms. Couple Aspergers with something else and it becomes a different situation. It's highly likely that this kid suffered from more than one thing.

I personnally don't give a rats ass what was wrong with any of these jackass' that do these shootings, there all worthless pieces of sh*t.
We are in a difficult situation, not unlike any other situation throughout history though.
People just need to step up and report craziness, no matter how mundane it may be. Let someone with experiance determine the facts. Someone's small inconvenience may be someone's life.

They aren't worthless, they've got a highly skewed view of reality and right/wrong that is not in their control. But yes, great care should be taken in their consideration.

Re: Fwck gun control

yeah, with the cocktail of mental disorders, and the many i know with others, you're rarely just going to have a single definable disorder. my family and friends know (for the most part) that its a bad idea generally for me to have easy access to guns, i've got to request use of mine if i want to go shooting.

and gun control is pretty cut and dry to me. i have no clue where my guns are, ma knows exactly where they are though. part of gun control is controlling yourself, after a bad run in, this is my way of policing myself. i'm still unsure how after my past i'm still able to go and buy a rifle, but i can. mental health appointments are very frequent for me, and the professionals i talk to, my friends, and my family all agree that shooting may be fun, but having a gun and ammo in my reach are not. i was pissy about it at first, but i've accepted it.

NoobCrawler 12-16-2012 11:26 AM

Re: Fwck gun control

I definitely agree that tighter gun laws aren't the answer. If someone wants to do something bad enough, they'll find a way. Also, on identifying the problem, as was mentioned in another thread, the person may "confess" to wanting/going to do something, but the people they tell tend to not taking them seriously, for whatever reason. That needs to change in order to fix this issue as well. But, first and foremost, there needs to be help and prevention for troubled people.

Making guns illegal won't solve the problem. Look at narcotics. They're illegal, but people still get their hands on it. They just need to improve the rules and laws. I just bought a rifle other day. I have to jump through hoops, fill out a pile of paper work and wait 10 days before I even get it. What more can you do?

Meatwad 12-16-2012 11:59 AM

People who responsibly own firearms are rarely the ones committing crimes. If that did happen then it would make sense to make it harder to buy/own.

Actually, I asked my wife about this and she said what is typically misdiagnosed as Aspergers when a kid is younger, actually turns out to be a thought disorder (an example is schizophrenia) when someone is older. Not saying that is the case with this person (as she has obviously never met him), but that is a common occurance.

They are systematically dismantling our Constitutional Rights.

Tragic events like this shooting are nothing more than fodder to advance their agenda.
