Gimmie a bb, a penny, a 12 gauge shell & a small bit of tape, glue, bubble gum etc & i will make it go boom every time. I prefer neutralizing the threat to going boom myself.

I own a Remington 870 Express Mag 12 Gauge. The Home defense version. I love it. It never jams, holds 2-3/4" and 3" shells, its simple to break down and clean and it generally just looks and sounds badass. The sound of chambering a round is enough to make anyone evaluate what the hell they're thinking.

No, it's not a stupid statement. If you didn't question it's reliability, you wouldn't have asked for other peoples thoughts. If you question it's reliability, why would you pick it for home defense? For hunting and other things, sure buy the copy. For a go to gun in home defense, I'd pony up and buy something else. |

Guns to me are a lot of personal preference. Read reviews, research, and buy what you are comfortable with.

I hunt rabbit, turkey, and water fowl with the same 870 i have had since i was 16 (im almost 40) never had a problem with it. i dont know about a cheap knockoff though. If i remember correctly the 870 is pretty cheap already. maybe just spend a few extra $ and get the real deal.

Can't find an 835 but I did find a 535 THUG. With a 22 inch barrel, it will do for defense quite nicely while still being a fine Turkey gun. Looked at a 535 ATS combo too, but not a lot of need for the 28" waterfowl barrel. Probably going to wait for the gun show next month to see if I can find a good deal on a used 870.

Every kel-junk video I have ever watched had at least one malfunction. Remington 1100 Tac-4 9-shot is my get out of dodge weapon. Last edited by RiceBurner; 12-28-2012 at 09:51 PM. |

Watch the video BeachBum left a link to. I had 2 mossberg 500's that would drop shells out the bottom every 5-6 pumps. Just saying, not hating.

That is part of the design spent shells exit out the bottom just like a p90 and most other bullpup designs makes it ambidextrous not malfunctioning

I have it on my main go-to gun. I love it, but the only downside to it in my opinion is if you ever wanted to mount optics on the receiver, that said, I still though it was the best option for me over other options. I wanted a folding stock, but never cared for the side folders, they just seemed odd to perform to me. With the stock folded, its nice and small, but when I want to shoot at the range, the stock unfolded works for me. There is no recoil pad, so it'll give you a workout, but if push comes to shove, I hope I never have to use it, yet use it enough to care about no having a recoil pad. Plus, if I remember correctly, it wasn't very expensive and I do remember installation was a breeze.

This is our new Mossberg model 500 Cruzer Tactical , we like it and it is our new home protection device . We decided this would be a better choice than any of the hand guns we have as an intruder spoiler . |
