I think DH and Free Riders have a bum rap. It takes a lot of skill to do what they do, however I'm sure there are few mindless hucksters out there. But yes I agree, crazy stuff.

I would say those guys got more brawn then brain. I've seen some very nasty wipeouts, and I don't feel sorry for them. Do that kind of stuff, and you'll eventually pay for it. I would of said got more balls them brain, but after some of those landings, you gotta wonder about the boys. I'm thinkin some of those guys might never have kids

I rode hard like that untill 2 years ago. I had a bad landing and hurt my back. A back brace for 3 months greatly changes your life style. Just for clearifacation I didn't go as big as those guys. Still good size 15ft's though.

Freeride and downhill are awesome. You just need to know your limits/abilities and when to push it. If you are going to try a big line, go 100% or it's going to hurt.

A while back there were some kids who lived near me who did stuff like that. they build a insane course across the street from my house. They would start on a fire road ontop of this hill, pedal pedal pedal.... til the road came to a curve and at the curve was a 4'-5' lip. they would just launch them selfs 15'-20' across were the road turned back, witch was about 20'-25' down a cliff..witch n the end they would land on the lower part (wasnt that steep at the bottom) . and then at the bottom was a moto X size double, make out of 10' cement barrels, they would hit and pancake or NO hander/footer. They the course turned into like a "BMX track on steroids".

I tryed the double on my down hill mt bike, but came up short snappng the forks.

I love FreeRiding, its the style of riding that i do, i ride a '04 kona stinky primo and i love it. There is just something about flying 15 in the air on 2 wheels thats unmatchable. The spills are nasty as ive taken a few pretty gnarly wipeouts, but i can say for me the risk is worth the reward

I think pedal pushers aren't all that. They talk about the speed, big air, & the rush as unmatchable. Give me a break. Try MX instead, more speed(uphill or down) & bigger air. The rush is matched or surpassed & the spills that much more spectacular.

My Dad always told me 2 things, Stupidity fuels excitment and if it burns when you pee wear a condom

It takes someone who is less than briliant to put themself in that much danger. The damage that does to your body is unreal.

The thing is you can't toss an MX around like you can a pedal bike. Try whipping through the trees at 30 MPH down a super twisty trail, with some of the holes between the trees barely wider than your handle bars. Tell me you can do that on an MX. Think of MX like Nitro and Pedal bikes like electric. We can go places you can't. You tear up the trails and get kicked out, plain and simple.

Yes I will give you the point that you can get bigger air off a jump. But I don't see anyone hucking an MX off a 40ft+ cliff.

Accually we do rip it threw the trails here. 2nd & 3rd gear, pinned as much as possible. We've had guys say "We no like ride w/you guys, you guy ride like you gotta take a sh!t".

Yeah, me neither, not intentionally. Accidentally, twice.

I saw a vid of DTP's riding and local trails, and it looked just like singletrack. Actually it was singletrack!

Hard to compare mountain and MX for me. One got a motor, one dont. Thats about the only difference unless you get into the trials riding.

Just watched it, there were some pretty big gaps. More skill than I have ever had! At least they were wearing helmets. I cant say that other facets of biking wear the needed protection.

Anybody notice that we have a pretty large amount of riders on this forum? Seems to be a lot of freeride and bmx kids here.
