Im getting a group of people together to crawl mt st helens in September. We are going to crawl to the summit or as high as DNR will let us with our scalers. Permits are $22 per person to hike. If you are interested e mail me at davidbrosius86@gmail.com

Funding the closure of public lands isn't cheap....

There is a reason I call it Oreganastan.

We are such a rural state that 2 counties in Oregon make up most of the population. Portlandia runs our state.

Its 22 bucks a person for the permit to climb mt st helens. There is already a trail to the summit and its a 8hr hike to the top. I already talked to the people. And there is no closing of federal land

22 dollars for a permit to summit a major mountain is cheap. I thought you were just doing a hike

somebodies gotta help pay for all the search and rescue crews that have to go up there all the time

Ok so I just got off the phone with the feds and they feel that its not a good use of the monument. But they gave us permission to hike another volcano called silver star which after looking at the pics of the summit its just as good if not better and its still a 3.5hr hike to the summit. And we dont need permits so we could take the 22+5 and put it all into the pot for who has the least penalty winches

No closing, just not allowing a citizen to use it.
If Obama wanted to smoke a Kool up there they would fly him up there in a blackhawk in no time & on our tab.
We are just proles after all.

Not a good use? Don't national monuments and such belong to the people of the country? and they are here to use and enjoy?

I have to agree but it was a good use of Grand Canyon for some guy to tight rope walk across it. Not
