lot of interesting things going on here, first the map. it is gigantic (as stated previously in this thread) somewhere in the range of 4x-6x size of gta 4. massive playing environments are something that rockstar really shines at detailing and fleshing out to make them feel as realistic as possible. great there. a lot of people are trying to knock the graphics shown in ads. i understand this, it isn't as pretty as a lot of games out there, but for how much stuff there is in the game, sacrifices do have to be made. they could have made a very pretty but broken game due to the current gen console's limitations. taking a temp gun to my 360 (original, non-hdmi, upgraded cooling and rrod fix) during mass effect 3, it was hitting at the exhaust port around 140 or so. the heat in the case must have been way up there. now mass effect 3 spends a lot of time being pretty, but the game environments are for the most part small levels. having an open world like gtaV, this is going to push the consoles to the limits of temperature and also pure processing power. another thing i've seen pop up as an issue is that the online portion will not be unlocked until 2 weeks after launch. to me (if this is true) this is a good thing. it gives people a chance to run around and maybe complete the story arcs of the 3 main characters. essentially, this gives all the players an equal shot at getting the controls and game mechanics down. playing halo 3 or halo reach, i frequently see people that haven't even started the story line and just do multi player. if that trips your trigger, go for it, but to me, if i'm spending the money on a game with a single player element, i'm there for the single player. i'm not huge into online multi player, i started multi player at lan parties in high school, and the experience is not the same. a lan party is a hoot compared to the dull, 13 year ridden, "i fawked your mother last night" world of online multi player. there is one thing to be said about picking up such a huge game on launch date. i wouldn't do it again. rockstar has faltered at this with the infamous "manimals" in red dead redemption and when my roommate picked up gta 4 on launch, there were some things that would happen (characters not loading, random skins applied to objects, etc.) that have since been patched out. with a game as ambitious as gtaV, there are bound to be glitches. i just hope they are not on the level of fallout: new vegas. |

If you are using a headset, your online character lipsynchs to your voice. I usually avoid online play as well...I seem to be nothing more but cannon fodder...but I will definitely do this. I hear that there is also a 'passive' mode where you cannot shoot at or get shot by other players. |

I'm all about online play, but the thing about this game is that it's good on or offline. Not many games have that quality.

5 times as many pedestrians as there were in GTA4...improved AI has gives them homes, jobs, more in depth conversations, and more realistic reactions to the player. Apparently you can randomly follow a npc for a full day and see them leave their house, commute to work, do their job, drive home or do errands.

I cannot wait until some civilian makes me angry, I will stalk them, murder them, and then move in on their family until it becomes my own family, then I will tear the family apart! Haha | |

| Re: GTA5...who's ready? Kinda sounds like it. There is also talk that npcs will be dressed and behave appropriately according to the region or location they are in. They will also engage the player more in conversation, ask for help, maybe even offer you a job. Drugs/alcohol are present. Not only can you be a drug dealer, you can be a user as well. Killing npcs will give you a bounty (ala Red Dead). The more you do it, the more the cops will take an interest in what you are doing. Last edited by Duuuuuuuude; 09-15-2013 at 01:28 PM. |
