Channeling my inner Clark Griswold
 

Got an idea, and had some spare time, so I decided to make it a reality.

Nothin say's Merry Christmas like an 8' double-sided plywood Christmas tree lit up with LED rope lights and LED multi-colored lights - then strapped to the bed of your pickup truck!

I wonder if I'll get pulled over once i'm out driving. Only plan on doing it the night of xmas eve and all day on xmas...just local driving to my folks and the in-laws place.

I got pulled over ON Christmas Eve 2008 for having multi-color LEDs on my roof rack.

It depends on how prickish the local Po-Po is feeling, most all states do not allow blue lights on any car, and most also don't allow any red lights that can be seen from the front of the vehicle.

I'm going to channel my inner griswold and I'm going to make a metal saucer sled and throw some ski wax on it for good measure. Top speed should be between oh shit and oh my god I'm gonna die.
