|  Man-made rock obstacles any info ?
with all the mods on rc crawlers , I havent seen anything on Man-made rock courses . UROC has a few dozen courses accross the country with the first one here in Salt Lake City. I've made 1 with shaved styrofoam with tile wire mesh on top and concrete/mortar spread on top of that . It works but is heavy and hard to move around . Any infomation or pics would be helpfull . Also anyone know how we can get on those UROC courses would also be very helpfull . snow is coming soon and I gotta build somthin to crawl on in the basement. X. r.c. K. rock-racerz |

Try a stucco top coat instead of concreat. They have a system that goes over foam and can be color matched. The surface would have a lot of grip I bet even Imex tires would hook up.

Thanks Bender for the pics. I wonder what they put on top of the foam ? looks like bedliner ? Cant wait to see Jetboat's pics. |

I just came back up from laying glass on it, Im using a heavy weight fiberglass mat with loads of resin. The part I did this morning is finally cured and is nice and strong and hard. I havent decided on a paint or coating yet, might be fun to run it bare glass for a little slick rock crawling, Ill try to add some pics tomorrow

Go and buy some spray on bed liner. That will give you great traction. But may make it to easy.

The glass is setting up strong enough I could prolly walk on it. Still undecided on covering material might use a combination of things |

right now its pretty heavy, I would say 75-100 # but I have allot of bracing that will come out once the glass all cures. As for investment, way too much. I would estimate Im closing in on $100. Anyone that wants to crawl on it once its done is more than welcome.

That looks really challenging. nice work . you could put multiple surfaces on it ( concrete , mortar , bedliner , stucco or bare glass in some areas ). mine arent near as big (4 x 5ft) is my biggest one .I gotta be able to move it around . you could hold a comp on that thing  .I'll post pics as soon as I can on my littler Man-Rocks. |

I was going to do seperate obsticles and just make them so they could be bolted together but, I decided that one full run would be best. In the spring I plan to build a full "park" on some land I own. It will be essentially the same technic except concrete in place of fiberglass. Maybe Ill host a comp on it next summer if people are interested
