Classifieds... The pet peeves list grows all the time.

First I will say he was in fact spoken to about the multiple threads and he won't be doing it again.
I try to go with a second chance moderation theory. We are all human and humans make mistakes.
As many of you all know and SEVERAL that have already posted in this thread complaining have all had second chances in the classifieds.
Second chances that involved a personal message vs. infraction and 3 week suspension to many. Is multiple posting any less or more of a violation then others bumping early? Deleting their 4 day old sale thread and bumping early? Not sure. but it deserves the same second chance.

The classifieds should be pretty simple, but every day people find ways to complicate things.

Pet peeves:

Read the rules. !!!! Read the rules. !!! READ THE RULES !!!
Yes, they do apply, no, they are not that complicated to understand or follow.
Over 72,000 registered members follow them without issue, join the club and follow along!

List a price! ... It's not that hard.
If you don't know how much you want for it, come back and post a sale thread when you figure things out.
I lose track of how many sale threads I delete regularly that ask for best offer without a price.

Don't be greedy and try to make your sale an auction because you are afraid you are going to miss $2.00 in the end.

POST PICTURES!!!! ... PM me for pics, will post pics later, email me for pics etc...
No!!! Post pictures. If you have the ability to do all the other ways, you can easily make a photobucket (or similar image hosting site) and upload their free image link.

Will post pics when I get home.... Great! Wait until you get home to post the sale thread WITH the pictures then.

Again... ADD PICTURES.... Don't link your build thread and tell people if they want to see pictures they can see them there. If you can copy & paste the link to the build thread, make that huge extra effort and open the build thread, grab the image code from a couple of your pictures and add them to your new sale thread.

"All RCC and Paypal rules apply"... Adding that in the beginning and bumping the thread early 3 days after it last posted, not listing a price and asking for someone to pay your Paypal fees all makes me want to poke you in the eye with a stick! J/k .... But it is aggravating.
Saying the rules apply is not a free pass to break them yourself.

Have your stuff ready to ship!
If not, clearly explain there will be a week or so wait until you take things to a post office.

Respond to your buyer!!! BIG one here.
If you can check your sale thread every 15 seconds until you get a buyer on the hook. Insist on immediate payment...
Keep that same line of communication open until the buyer sends you a message stating the item is in hand.
Granted some buyers get to be pests.
But if they ask for tracking ... Respond back
If they have a dumb question... Respond back (even if its only to say you don't answer dumb questions) at least respond.


Tracking is cheap! BUY IT !!!!

Where in the for sale rules does it clearly state that you must comibine your "crap" in one or two posts? I have no problem playing along in the future as I have already stated but the more I think about this I just dont know what the big deal is and Im not sure it was ever a "mistake".

I did what I did for clarity and ease of use for the prospective buyer/buyers. When I search for something I dont even bother with "garage sale" titled threads anymore because they rarely ever contain anything of use to me. I guess I just value my time more and have better things to do then sift through random for sale threads. When I see a title that says "custom scaler" or "2.2 beadlocks" it makes me want to look because it clearly states what is being sold.

Its kind of like buying a car on autotrader or buying anything else on any other format ever devised....ebay, craigslist....ect. The title states what the item is, you click on it and there is a brief description, price and terms and lastly a picture or two.

I did nothing against the rules here as far as I can tell, sure I see the point and I will play along and have no problem doing so but dont chastise me for doing something that is not the norm. Just because some adds get bumped down the page a bit is really a big deal? Some people worry about the most insignificant things.

Having 15 pm's all with the same "Garage sale" subject flood into my inbox in less than 2 minutes can be confusing.
I think it is a delicate balance.

I can see both sides here. Personally I like to know what is for sale, it also helps with searches. So if someone makes a thread for wheels/tires and a different one for bodies or whatever, and separates them by category i dont mind.

I do agree on the 5 thread of garage sale, or bench cleaning. If youre going to lump everything together, just make one big thread.


Every seller should read what THX says, nobody wants to wait a week for your lazy ass to ship, etc. All of them are good points.

Another pet peev besides the no pics, is wash your shit!! Nobody likes your dirt encrusted tires, or mud caked parts. The whole dirt is free thing is stupid. If you cant take 5 mins to wash your parts how well did you maintain them?
