Any board gamers here?

I have been playing a lot more board games lately than I have in many years.
The kid is starting to warm up to some of them.
Any of you play?

Classic starters.
Chess is still high on the strategy list for me.
I am finding I like games with no dice the most.

Played Catan a few times, a friend of mine has it and a few of the expansions. Really got into Munchkin last summer, (I know it is technically a card game) it's fun and not to involved. We have all the standards (Monopoly, etc.) in the closet, but rarely play them.

I built a board and bought miniatures to play Munchkin with the kids.

The main true board game I can get the kids to play is monopoly and Qwirkle. I have them watch Wil Wheaton's Table Top show to try and get them into some others.

Great game, hard to keep a group playing it tho.
I have a couple friends that will NEVER play that again.
I am really digging Power Grid lately.

We used to play in our department at work quite a few years ago. Things would get so heated, that it was finally banned. I think there are still people pissed off at each other because of those days.

For those that don't know, regular board games are like the tech sections here on RCC...well regulated and things are kept in check. Diplomacy is like Chit Chat.

On Pirate.

Played a lot of RISK back in the day, nothing too complicated as all players was big potheads

We allso played Cards a lot, but when there came mony on the table ( small ammounts ) some ppl couldent handle it, and then mony on the table became blood on table and mony and Cards all over the place.

Again we where all fooking potheads ;-)

I never liked to be too serious about anything, even the sports and games i was best at, as soon as it became competetive i lost around 25% of my game.

Same playing music, as long as we jammed it was fine, but then the Guys wanted to make albums, and i told them to look for another drummer.

A friend (old neighbor) and I have had a regular Axis & Allies game going for about 7 years now.
I have a few gamer friends that will join in and we play Settlers's of Catan, Zombies, Fluxx and a few others.
I have another friend, a 50 year old alcoholic math prodigy that suffers from serious ocd... he's always bringing home new games, but mostly we play poker till 6am.

Ticket to ride is a lot more fun than I expected. Pretty tense at the end to see who got what they wanted built.

Risk is a classic. Many long nights in middle school trying to conquer the world.
The one big positive about gaming & toking is it keeps people from getting all irate over some dice rolls.

Classic Axis or are you all playing the newer versions?
We are planning a second try at Axis & Allies WWI 1914 soon. There are a stack of the newer A & A for our group to play waiting.

If you want more game crack
