Yeah! It happened at national speedway in long island, NY around '74-'75. Fortunately, nobody was behind it and just ran into the wall.

Nope, car going backwards on the start happens, I've had to warn more people than I can remember. While the car must stage forward to prevent launching in rev, a transbrake equipped auto is in first & rev at the same time in stage, let go the brake, rev let's go, car goes forward. You can guess what happens if when you bring the revs up to launch the first gear band or servo fails. Thankfully never had it happen to my car & never seen it in person happen fast off a launch on the start line but have definitely seen a car back itself slowly out of stage when the transbrake was applied at idle when first wouldn't hold. |

Both tracks we race at, get racers and crowds like this at every street style event they hold.I swear, it gets worse at the track then it ever did on the streets!!!! Seems like when theres money (which there probably was) and a crowd like that, guys ego's get in the way.yea he should have let off but atleast no one got hurt and it was a good race to watch

The dude in the mustang got lucky that he didn't hit the camaro and that he managed to gather it up without hitting a wall. Either way he still lost. |

i love the suspension tuning on these 4 digit HP and TQ cars. to make them go straight on TWO wheels is so impressive with the torque forces at work. the 3rd gen firdbird actually does a hella nice 60' with daylight under the front (and straight) but the stang took it to a whole nother level 1800hp Last edited by STANG KILLA SS; 01-22-2015 at 01:43 PM. |

I'm surprised that subaru driver gave it all he could till the end. Good job. Except maybe hurtling as fast as he could towards spectators with broken suspension and steering parts. |

| Re: Never. Ever. Lift. Old post but anyways... A lot of these heads up races have a TON of cash on the line... When youre willing to come down from a wheelie that hard, get back in it and ride a wheelie out blindly.... theres money on the line.
