Going to play devil's advocate here...

I have to ask, what makes this guy a 'douche', in particular, these videos?

Yeah, its not the best video in the world on crawling, but who knows, he might just get some newbs interested in crawling and get some fresh blood back into our niche of the hobby (is this the douche part?). And, generally he promotes the RC hobby in a positive light (or is this the douche part?).

Most RC Sparks posts I don't care for, most are just boring run videos, and I do think his ego is a little inflated. But he has had a couple of cool builds, the 8x8 transport and the Tonka RC were good ones. I can see calling him a douche if he claimed to be the greatest crawler, the RC builder out there, or his builds were perfect, but there was none of that in the video. He has enough followers, he is likely getting a nice chunk of change from YouTube (maybe this is the douche part?).

As far as RC channel names go, it would seem like one would want to avoid "RC Sparks", this usually means your ESC or battery got mad. Same goes for "RC Nightmare", I am thinking you would want to avoid this as well...

Good points Greatscott. Read the comments after his videos. Lots of "where can I get one?" types of comments. These aren't for folks already into it but may draw in some new blood.

Sorry guys. I like rcsparks. I'd shake his hand n ask for the controller any day. Long story short he makes money from this hobby. I have to spend it. Plus he's ran more than I ever will and he's not a complete dumbass. Why are we bashing him so hard exactly here on Rccrawler?

I can't really say anything about his advise, really only watch the build videos. Honestly his voice is a bit annoying and only listen when I have to. When I have listened I have heard things that I don't agree with, or that I'd do differently, but nothing I would consider "bad advise".

Maybe my perspective is all F'ed up, for all of the comps I have been to, I have never won. I have placed in the top five several times, but sadly, no victory lap for this guy. I was just there to have fun and to be with fellow RC crawling geeks. Sure, I competed to win, but I did so because it was fun. Plus, when you are always going up against drivers like Jake and Nabil, you are kind of screwed from the get-go. For a lot of us, that is what this whole thing is about, just having fun with our expensive toys, and not racking up sponsor titles to put in our signature. Nothing I heard in these videos sounded like he was trying to tell noobs how to win a comp, just how to crawl better and maybe get new kids interested.
