also wondering if anybody has ever seen a 1979-84 mustang notchback kit? im finding myself having to buy 3 different kits to build the car I want.
None that I know of, even the convertible and hatch kits that would have been made for that era Fox Body have all been updated to post 4-eye spec.

I love working with styling clay.
Started work on a Mack LTL cab and have been working on it at an incredible snails pace.

What kills me are the "ones that got away" - such as a model I either wanted badly as a kid or had as a kid and either never built it or did a poor job of it....

As I grew up I was a military brat - all the moving meant throwing away a lot of things, and unfortunately sometimes having things of yours thrown away without your knowledge!

I had a Tamiya Lancia Stratos kit that was going to be my masterpiece but while I went off to college (dropped out and went into the USMC shortly after) it was tossed, UNBUILT!!!

An oddball item I had that would be worth a ton now - and the wonders of the internet have made it so everyone can now view it :

https://issuu.com/autokiosk/docs/1978-bmw-m1-brochure

I also had a brochure from Lancia that had the more pedestrian models (Spyder, Coupe, and HPE) on the front, back and middle pages but unfolded and on the back was a large poster off the Stratos, when I was given this it started my love affair with that car...

Both of those brochures were given to me by my German mother's favorite cousin, the owner of a large Fiat/Lancia dealer in Germany. They were among my most prized possessions, along with the Tamiya kit. All are gone now... (ouch!)

2 models I remember well - one I owned and actually had my dad paint - a '53 Studebaker Starliner:

and the other one I couldn't have because my mom was sensitive to the negative connotations:

Someday, however - I will build these 2 kits I bought long ago on eBay (I think they were my first purchases there):

Started in styrene , stock kits were little challenge or fun. So I upped the game, chop, channel, section, mold and slam.

The last one I finished up, haven’t touched anything in a while. All my stuff is still in boxes from moving.

always wanted to do some nice detailed cars... tried when i was younger, i need to try again now that I'm more patient and have a dedicated hobby bench.

i did pick up one of these last year. factory paint job is awful and not surprising at this scale and price (i think i paid $20).

i'll post a few pics when i get home of how much i fixed it up with a wash and some color correction of some panels, even added some missing damage with a soldering iron.

I'm working up the guts (and fun tickets) to do a bigger one. i have a Hasbro "BMF" i got for $120 for my 4 inch figures. it could use a wash but i hesitate as that thing is worth over $500 these days...
(good review here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6Q-PBReQDo and i have all the ones he has too lol)

*okay pics!

It's got Lights!

It's a huge difference with just the wash... all done with bushes and paper towels.
And yes that's the real deal graflex lightsaber photobombing back there.

My son asked me to weather his hot wheels ac cobra into a barn find...

My first time doing a weathered hot wheel. Kinda fun! Really like the broken rusted headlight. Turned out neato.

There is a guy Sharon Tarshish on Instagram. You should check his work.

Nice! My son was inspired by some tutorials he saw on youtube, and this might be a nice segway to getting us both into 1:24 kits... looks like a blast!

**Dernit! Got curious and sure enough, ac cobra bodies are aluminum haha so rust isnt exactly accurate. Well it was good practice!

As long as your son likes it, that’s all that matters! Could be rust staining from steel fasteners?

If you want rust/weathered, my friend Virgil Suarez , AKA Dr Cranky is the master, look for his videos or articles. The salt technique works well

sorry to jump back on the 1:64 diecast again, but i told my son i found custom hot wheels parts on shapeways (wheels mostly, from Roger Wheel Co.) and he flipped out when i showed him the DOZENS of old school JDM wheels that come in packs of 8 (4 low offset, 4 high offset) for a reasonable $10.

and today i found this website...
mycustomhotwheels.com (mentions/features Sharon Tarshish a bunch of times)

soooo basically my son and i just started a new hobby lol *wallet and spare time crying on each other's shoulders as wife rolls eyes*

*also, i reeeeally need an airbrush lol

Working on this for a club build, gotta build a vehicle from the year of our births. Not much easily aquired from the '76 m/y, and I have no interest in the Ford Gran Torino/Flying Stripped Tomato kits and already had a couple of these in my stash of kits

Could be worse, the only guys in the club that are younger than me were both born in '79.

I was born in 79, AND my mom had a gremlin! Too cool...
Hers had the same stripe az the box art, but i think it was... yellow with orange stripe?
When i was born she sold it and bought a ford station wagon. that thing left us stranded on the freeway all the time.

Here is the latest my son asked me to give "the treatment".
Paint still wet and needs matte clear but its decent.

Ok matte is where... its at!

My son and i were at hobby lobby last night, they had an old datsun pickup 1:25 by mpc. So tempting!

I had that Datsun p/u. Painted it a metallic maroon, wish I had a pic of it, met an untimely death at the hands of an M-80

Well its been re-released, and improved by mpc!

If i got my grubby hands on this, i would go cor the middle build, with stretched tires over the mags with a ton of front camber and a narrowed rear axle to tuck the tires into the fenders...
Doripu!
(Thats "drift pickup") ;)
