Thanks for the in depth take on it Cory. I knew it wouldn't be as pretty as Pcars, and I'm OK with that provided the game play is on point. I guess I'll find out in a couple weeks when the console version hits.

A buddy of mine in the RC drifting scene told me the drifting mods for AC are really well done. I've been thinking of picking it up just for that reason.

I've read mixed reviews. Guys that actually drift claim it's terrible, guys that play video games and assume how a drift car / race car should feel seem to like it. Also, the car I picked for the rally stage is beyond a hand full, GEEZ! |

The only guy I know is a gearhead and I think he's drifting real cars, but he also is big into iRacing, which I feel is the best racing sim out there. He said the sim aspect of AC is lackluster, especially compared to iRacing, but the drifting is pretty spot on. Maybe so, maybe no, but I'm interested in trying it out sometime. I still can't get my screen (in Dirt Rally) to look like it should since the Windows update. It's all squished and the aspect ratio is junk. :( |

I'm anxious to try the console version of AC in a couple weeks. Hopefully the drift physics are good there also, without needing a mod pack just for drifting. One of these days maybe I'll build up a gaming PC. I told Cory I have to ship my laptop out for a MB recall, when it gets back, it's powerful enough to play some iRacing and other older titles, so I may join in some racing with you guys. The console is just so much easier for the lazy ass like me. Push the button, go play. |

I hear ya, man, but the immersion aspect and overall experience of a PC compared to a console is significant. I don't even own a console anymore. |

other thing to think about is on console your racing teenagers. i like to think PC is more of gentlemen racers. maybe not 100% true as there are still turn 1 cluster fuucks at times. |

I would imagine the immersion aspect is only changed if you drop the coin to have triple monitors and the like, or am I missing something? That's a good point Cory, not just teenagers, just lazy sumbitches like me. Easier for Bubba to click one button and be done. |

I found this tx servo base on ebay, talked with the seller at length, and took the gamble. Initial tests seemed like everything was OK after flashing the latest firmware, so I ordered a GT28 wheel rim for it. When the wheel rim arrived yesterday, I installed it and discovered that the wheel column had some vertical play, and while playing I was getting a pop every now and then and the wheel wouldn't return to center. Knowing it had to be belt / cog related, I tore into it. Turns out all I had to do was adjust the tensioners (bottom right two screws with red on them) on the belt that runs to the wheel, and put it back together, and reset the center. I flogged it for a good two or three hours last night and I think it's good to go. If it lasts a week, a month, or five years, I can't complain at all for what I paid for it. The one thing that I noticed is how much stronger and faster the FFB is with the TX base vs the TMX I already had. I'm having to lower all my in game FFB settings, as the TX will literally rip itself out of your hands. Bumps and any other fast FFB signals are much more pronounced, as are curbs, etc. I was truly tired from turning laps fighting the wheel in Pcars and Dirt Rally last night with the TX. That's not to say the TMX is bad, not at all actually, but there's a price point here, and this is how they meet it. It's pretty much the performance difference between a brushed and brushless RC, as that's the main difference between the two. All mounted up, been messing with my pedals some more also. I like the standard pedal orientation for heel / toe, but prefer the clutch angle in GT style. First world problems right? |

hes combining Oculus Rift Virtual reality, with green screen virtual reality and calling it mixed reality. so we as a third party can see him immersed in the Oculus VR world. its pretty sick. this video explains whats going on. watch this first. now go check out his videos on his channel. notice the wheel and his arms are real. not VR. because we are seeing the mixed reality 3rd person view from the camera/green screen. from the oculus rift he cannot see his own wheel and hands obviously. he sees the OR virtual wheel and annimated hands in the game. Channel https://www.youtube.com/user/MarcelM...sort=dd&view=0 this video shows off the mixed reality the best, but has terrible graphics, because its a user created mod for AC. but it shows the mixed reality well. go check out his vids for dirt rally, iRacing, etc. for the better graphics. I'm definitely struggling, but not sure if it's the car or my controller settings that got all jacked up with the recent Windows update. Regardless, I'm away from my PC for another few days so I may not even get chance to make an entire pass on this stage. |

The car is a handful for sure, my bad. Well, my ebay TX servo base starting raising hell again tonight, finally tracked it down. I don't think bearings are supposed to look like that. Oh well, got a new (NIB this time) servo base incoming while I try and track down a bearing for this one. |

^^Yep!! I was shocked at this kind of damage in a gaming wheel bearing. I managed to get it all apart, stuck the shaft in the freezer overnight and then drove off the inner race this morning before work and measured the bearing races with calipers. Got a new one inbound as well as a 3.5mm jack for my E Brake I'm gonna try to get finished before AC goes live. |
