Ah, that's cool, thought you might like the car. Finding cars that are setup for drifting, and feel the way a real car should and things clicking with me for drifting has taken a long time. But it's one of the most satisfying things yet in sim racing, for me at least. I've wasted countless hours the past few days just shredding virtual tires. And the cool thing is, AC models that too. About three laps, and it's like driving on ice.

I always found drifting on AC easy with the stock AC drift car (bmw)
but oddly Tommy and Steve always struggled with it and couldnt make it happen, which is odd as there both typically better/faster drivers than me.

there both on logitechs. im not sure if i had already swaped to thrustmaster at that time or not. i wonder if that was the difference?

also try lowering your tire pressures. theres a good chance after 3 laps of shredding the psi are out the roof, which would also give that ice feeling. dont be scared to try dropping them 10+ psi

I struggled with even the BMW, partly I think because it just doesn't have enough power and at higher speeds it would cause the car to hook up and snap back violently. Having 800HP on tap seems to prevent that. I don't like all of the drift mod cars either, only a few suit me handling wise. I'll try the tire pressure thing, should have thought of that.

I struggle with drifting low power car as well. I'm sure it's a technique thing that I'm not aware of or a skill that I just don't have.

I know it's not racing, but I picked up BeamNG Drive on the Steam summer sale, and I've been playing it quite a bit. It's very different, more of a time waster game than anything. But I can spend hours taking photos and destroying cars in spectacular ways. It does support FFB wheels, and I tested mine with it, but I'm usually reclined back in the rig with a controller and beer.

Do you have a link to download that Jeep? It's awesome! It reminds me of a Sawback.

I downloaded BeamNG a while ago. The physics and graphics were horrible. I wonder if they updated it since I last played it.

The Jeep is the HellHopper, you can find it on the offical mod page here;

https://www.beamng.com/resources/hellhopper.1819/

And yes, it's mostly for the crash physics. As stated, I can spend hours destroying cars and hitting jumps, etc. I was a huge San Francisco RUSH fan back in the day, and this feels a lot like that with awesome crash physics.

i cant remember what console it was, but there was a game called "burnout" or "flat out" or something, they made a bunch of them 3 or 4. well #2 or #3 had a mode where you simply could drive different cars and truck you unlocked crash racing, you have about 1/2 mile to get up to speed and hit a busy intersection and Tbone cars, buses etc. you would try to see how much damage you could rack up in points. it was so much fun. cant imagine the hours me and freinds spent doing that.

That would be Burnout, until they completely ruined it with Burnout Paradise that is. I played the hell out of those games.

Both Burnout and Flatout were video games.

I never said they weren't, but the Burnout series had the massive crash mode that Cory is referring to.

Cory, here's a good explanation on how to install mods. Let me know if this doesn't get you there. And as always, make sure you have a system backup, and do an AV scan of anything you download on the interwebs. You guys know that shit though.

Here's the two main places I get my mods.

Assetto Corsa Mods | RaceDepartment

I live really close to Grandview Speedway. I can often hear it in the background while sim racing.

Last night the big boys were there (410 sprints) which is a rare occasion for this short, short track. The #4 car has iRacing livery. Pretty cool.

Oculus Rift and Touch (whatever that is) combo is on sale for $399. I wish Rift was down to $299 on it's own!

The Oculus Touch is the tracked motion controllers for playing games, and they're fantastic. And you got your wish, kinda, right now Amazon is doing the Rift + Touch bundle and giving you a $100 Amazon gift card for $399. That's an incredible deal!

While not a true sim, it's sim enough for me. Ride 2 had a lot of DLC that I didn't have, so I downloaded it last night, and been hooning it up this evening.

I also discovered Nvidia's DSR setting, and man, games have never looked better.
