its funny i actually consider DR to be a full sim, although it wasnt advertised as one. the physics are just really damn good in that game.
yeah i dont mind a good simcade/B level Sim.

I hope to join in for the practice Sunday night. I don't think I own COTA so I'll have to pick it up.

I think we would all consider it a sim, which is exactly my point, when it's done right it can be a shit ton of fun. Sometimes more so than a pure sim, which was the case with DR. Ever tried Richard Burns Rally? That shit was ridiculously hard.

I downloaded COTA last night and I was driving the Ferrari 488 GTE around it. One of the biggest issues I'm having in transitioning from dirt to the street is the lack of feedback in my brake pedal. I lock them up way too easily. Any tips would be appreciated. I did turn up the force factor (forget the name) in iRacing.

You running any brake mods? Squash ball, conical mod? I run the T3PA pros, and run the conical mod along with a hardware store spring. The conical mod alone just had no feel to me, as there was almost no pressure needed before hitting the conical mod. It made a big difference in threshold, and trail braking for me.

No mods. I'll look into them. Thanks.

its a hard car to brake. well easy compared to the vette, but the no abs makes it tricky.
tune can make a huge difference too in braking ability.
yeah brake mods can help. but its mostly muscle memory. you can also go to low friction pads will help too. not be such a on/off switch for braking lock up. yeah you can tweak the brake curve too. stock is 1.8. going to a higher number will give you more "expo"

there is a 2 hour practice setup tonight(and monday) at 8pm eastern

I signed up on the Corvette forum. It's probably too late to make tonight's session, but that's fine. Hopefully I can get in tomorrow.

It is a ton of muscle memory. I'm used to driving iRacing cars that stop on a dime. So when I get in my little Kia I don't know why it doesn't stop.

My commute is 16 minutes round trip per day. I drive more sim miles a week than real miles. So I get used to the sim cars and sometimes it feels odd getting into my real car. Muscle memory. My girlfriend thinks I'm insane when I tell her that. You guys might think the same.

Oh yeah, just wait till you reach for the shifter in your daily driver, and they're both automatics. Sure sign you probably need to log out for a day or two. LOL

He contacted me via PM and sent me an invite. I should be joining in tonight.

I'm not sure if you guys chat, but I don't have a mic.

We generally run discord, and chat during practice sessions. You need to get a mic. There will also be a team chat in iRacing as well, and if memory serves the CF guys require that you map that to a button so that nobody has to listen to anyone cough, sneeze, argue with the wife, etc for two hours.

we do in practice etc. but during racing they do ask to keep a quite mic for focus, unless its an emergency warning, or a quick sorry or something. but there pretty laid back on that even.

yeah when its just us RCC guys we run discord to chat.
when iracing with the CF they just use the iracing chat, which is push to talk, not open hot mic.

I'm looking forward to tonight. COTA has some tough sections. I'll try to stay out of the way.

When fast guys are approaching do I hold my lane and let them pass or move out of the way of the racing line to make it easier?

That's a good question, as I've done both, not sure which is better. Probably varies at each track. I haven't driven in so long, I'll likely be back there with ya.

lol COTA is one of the toughest tracks out there. even great racers hate it. most are already expecting it to be one of there drop weeks.

in real life the answer is always hold your line and let the overtaker go around you.
in sims like HPIguy said both. if your on a straight you can move over early so they know your letting them by.

in corners, you can either hold your line or go wide. but do so early, not with them right on your bumper, ie no sudden late moves.

but in practice its not really that important. just racing.

Yeah, that's kind how I've done it, or tried to at least.

I'm fixing my sensor mounts now, should be there this evening.
