Problem solved thanks to the Thrustmaster support team. Had to put the base into bootloader mode and do a firmware update, and all is well in the pretend race car once again.

jeez you guys are tempting me...

DUROK (and anyone else) are you on xbox? if so send me a request. you'll never guess my gamertag...
if you see me playing fortnite, that's my son lol
another thing holding me back is my wife and i have been kinda questioning how much our son is on xbox. he is currently limited to 2 hrs per day.
no way could i justify a PC sim rig with that going on... not to mention another kid on the way?! fun money is extremely limited for now.

stang killa, how is the new handbrake setup working out for ya?
* also, how are you guys managing to drift with those funky F1 style airplane yokes? how do you let the wheel spin in your hand for countersteer?
like this guy, for example (NOT ME!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVo1Y4p84T8

hand brake and pedals get here tommorrow.
the rest of us all use round wheels.
and randy only uses that F1 wheel on appropriate race cars.

Yep, kept my 599XX rim for drifting and anything that doesn't run the funky wheel setup.

EDIT: I can't effing wait to turn some F1 laps tonight with the new wheel in AC. That RSS forumula hybrid is calling my name. I'll be curious to see if my lap times drop due to it. Turned a 1:49 at Spa the other night. And somewhere in the 5's at Nords.

I read somewhere that he cut a tire when squeezing between those two cars.

Lamborghini, and I'm sure others, are testing composite conrods. Can you imagine how much faster the engines would rev!

Also, GMC is putting a carbon fiber bed on a truck!

believe or not my C6 Z06 has Titanium connecting rods and valves
the C5 Z06 actually came with a Titanium exhaust from the factory.

LS Carbon Fiber rods have been in the works for while, but ive never seen anything further than a computer model

I had a Yoshimura Ti race pipe on my Suzuki SV650-S, boy was I glad the previous owner had paid for that mod - too much money for me to consider!

Sure sounded nice... the V-twin SV motor always sounded better to me than the typical inline-4 sportbike motor through an aftermarket exhaust.

My current (hole-in-the-tank, just sittin' there in my brother's garage) SV650 unfaired model is bone-stock, however.

I remember thinking it was pretty out-there when Ford did the carbon-fiber wheel thing for the Shelby GT350R - from hotrod.com (bold print highlights by me):

The $4,000 Mistake You Don't Want to Make With Your New Ford Mustang GT350R - Hot Rod Network

"Ford joined forces with Carbon Revolution in Australia to develop a set of 19×11-inch wheels for the front of the GT350R (Ford part number: FR3Z-1007-R, retail price $4,174.93 each) and slightly wider 19×11.5-inch (Ford part number: FR3Z-1007-S retail price $3,536.33 each) for the rear of its new Shelby.

The new wheel design has helped eliminate unsprung weight by nearly half compared to the 33-pound aluminum wheels found on the base Mustang Shelby GT350. Eliminating weight on the wheels also helps the new carbon-fiber wheels shave roughly 40 percent off rolling inertia to set better acceleration and braking times for this track ready platform.

Oddly enough, though the front wheels are smaller in size, they come with a higher price tag at the parts counter at dealerships. This is due to the ceramic plasma arc spray (the same technology found to treat the original Space Shuttle engines) used to protect the front wheels from brake heat. It turns out the GT350R’s front brakes have been recorded at hitting temperatures of more than 1,652 degrees F, so keeping the wheels shielded from that scorching hot heat is key to keep the carbon fiber protected."

I believe it. They've been using titanium and magnesium on motorcycles for a while. Awesome stuff.

I hated the design of the C7 at first, but I'm falling in love with it.

Downloaded VRC Pro last night!
https://www.vrcworld.com/about/

Its now free to play w/ $ DLC you get like 10 cars and 10 tracks

(for some reason steam still has it on the old price model where you had to buy the base game)

DLC is sold in packs for $10

when you sign up your supposed to get 30 days unlimited access to all content, ie cars, tracks, hop up parts etc.

you can play it with keyboard, game controller etc for free. (it even found my thrustmaster wheel, fana pedals etc) or for $18 you can buy a USB dongle that lets you use your real RC transmitter. it just plugs into any receiver and powers it up and gets its inputs from there.

if you buy the USB dongle is supposed to also extend your 30 day unlimited another 30 days. although my date seemed to be only about ~40 days out.

you can build the cars. pick a bare chassis, pick your motor, exc, battery, body, tires, etc etc. tools etc.

and of course you can tune everything. all suspension, pinions, spurs , steering angles, camber, bump stops, blah blah everything. keeps track of battery mah used, motor temps etc.

they have some new classes including 1/10 electric rally X cars and 1:8 nitro GT3 cars. they also have 1/10 drifters!

new C7 body just released for the GT3 cars

every thing is real world parts. every tire, chassis, battery , track, etc. name brand replicas.

first night impressions:
spent about 30 minutes playing with keyboard
the Electric SCT was a ton of fun (was at Mikes Hobby Shop in Carrolton TX!) physics were really good. so were graphics.

i later tried the 1/8 nitro GT3 onroad. yeah. no. WAY too fast for keyboard, uncontrolable.

game seems pretty deep.

im not 100% sure i have full access to everything. somethings i seem to, and other times i seemed to not. i need to look into this more. although i dont really see myself buying any/much pay DLC.

the USB dongle comes from the Netherlands. so im sure it will be a 2-3 week wait. burning up most of full access time.

there were 29 people online last night.
and thats the kicker with these. fun at first but if you dont have your friends to race i think it woiuld fall off fast.

so any interest in this guys? im going to pursue it alone. but would love some company. its free. except if you want to use your radio. $18
i plan to mostly do short course trucks, offroad etc. maybe some offroad buggys. and probly stick to the free content unless i get bored. i may try the onroad once my USB dongle comes in.

I have VRC with the dongle adapter. I've played it by myself and with online randoms and it's a ton of fun. I'd be in for sure.

I didn't know you could build the vehicles though. That's awesome.

Short Course is my favorite as well. I dabble on in road and that's fun too. I wish they'd add 2WD buggies, but they resist for some reason.

Heck yeah! I haven't touched VRC in quite a while. It would be fun to have a group of us run.
