Nerd rule #1, never, EVER throw anything away. Shit, that reminds me, I need to clean out the damned garage since I never throw anything away.

You won't need anything you store until the day after you throw it out.

lol i even text you guys seeing if you needed parts.
well i needed room to move tire stacks to make room for the triples so it was worth it. i had thought about cutting the cords off and giving to our neighbor kids to play with.

i cant tell you how many times ive kept an RC something rather for 5-10 years. then needed again and got to just grab it and go to town. thats a cool feeling. saves money too if you dont mind the hoarding. i never sell anything RC.

I have a tough time throwing things out and I also have a tough time selling things. I get attached. Plus, whenever I've sold something I've regretted it.

Did you guys see the side airbags deploy in this ZL1 on the track?

Not the first car - not even the first Camaro. But it's an air bag defect that scares me. I don't really like the idea of a gun shot going off and disorienting while simultaneously getting punched in the face at highway speeds.

Yep, I think my car has something like 14 airbags. It's crazy, but supposedly super safe according to the tests.

I know from personal experience that those slow-motion shots of airbags deploying that make them look all soft and pillow-like are definitely a crock. It's just like Jato described plus having your forearms raked with coarse grit sandpaper.

jeez so much wrong in that vid!
mullet
single handed top of steering wheel cool hand position

plus he was doing over 30mph and he jumped the curbe, off the back into the grass, then hit the backside of vertical curb
30+ mph + high X g force = airbags.

watch his body and hands as he jumps the curbs. that 300 lb dude went 0 gravity violently twice. ie and extremely hard impact and g force jolt.

id like to see his wheels........

His right arm/hand are partially paralyzed, hence the single hand driving style and the automatic. Hell I give the dude credit, most people that own those types of cars treat it like it's their first born. I'm glad to see somebody out actually beating on one at the track rather than having a garage queen. If a purpose built sports coupe can't stand that type of treatment, then it's nothing I'd ever own.

ahh ok. had no idea. explains the limp hand in lap. props to him.

go hit the back of a 3-4" curb at 90mph and let us know how your subaru does. o and add 30 series sidewall tires, and very hard magnetic ride shocks. report back.

Especially since watching F1 is like watching paint dry.

I thought the same thing about his driving, but as Randy said his arm is messed up. If you look you can see scars and then during the air bag deployment that hand flops around and it's just not functional. So I give him props for getting on the track with one hand. Don't let disabilities hold you back.

EDIT: I was too slow and you responded before I had a chance.

Not trying to argue, but plenty of people take daily driven WRXs to amateur rally events, that are held offroad, with functional airbages without issue. And other car brands run those events also. The hit that set off the guys airbags didn't even look that hard to me, even in slow mo. Hell, our potholes are worse than that here since nothing west of Asheville gets any upkeep money in NC. I've literally hit potholes that I thought had ripped suspension off the car, or bent a rim, and it's fine. I've also bombed washboarded gravel forest service roads at 40mph +, again no problem at all. Maybe GM could shoot Subaru a message on the Farcebook on where to buy decent airbag sensors.

amatuer rallycross events rarely exceed 45mph. and they certainly dont hit the backsides of concrete curbs. they also typically run tall sidewalls and soft suspensions.
dirt washboards at 40, and curbs at 90 are very different.

again take your suburu to 90mph and hit the back side of a curb and report back.

i hit a pothole once at the speeds he was at. bend both the wheels on my R6 into "D"s and ejected me 10' into the air. still have the scars where the windsheild frame went threw my knee cap. hair never grew back

doesnt matter either way. i cant afford a ZL1 so its not my problem

I'm pretty sure that was a fluke and not some inherent flaw. Electronics fail especially when subjected to outside forces like heat, flex, etc. I'm not sure how airbag sensors work to be honest.

Two more cars we need for AC. A tow truck and a drift van.

They won't embed.

If the backside of the curbs are that tall, the dozer guy backfilling the kerbs when building the track is shit at his job. I used to do that too. And agreed, it'll never be my problem as I don't have that kind of money for a toy car. Meaning, its a leisure time activity object. I'm sure it's fun, but way too rich for my blood.

Oh shit, I'm all over those two.

We need to bring back cat and mouse for AC nights too! Thought about that earlier today.
