IMO Kart physics could be VERY hard to get right. there so unique in real life. ie the no suspension/flexing chassis metal/thick tires would be really hard to get to NOT feel like and arcade/ simcade.

not sure id spend money on a Kart only title though. never been that big of a fan. one of my current titles (cant remember) has 1 or 2.

That's my complaint about most kart games - they don't get the physics even close.

In real life karts are a complete ball of fun. They handling is telepathic and twitchy, but you can save them when they get loose. With the games I've tried the karts either handled like they were on rails or they were impossible to save when you lost the back end.

I am contemplating a new, larger monitor for sim racing as a gift for Christmas. Something like a 32" curved monitor or something along those lines.

Meh, I think anything cockpit based is perfect for VR provided the devs put the time into it to refine the VR implementation. But, we've had that discussion many times. Immersion or graphics maxxed out, pick one. I will say, most of the big sims have refined the graphics to the point that things are way prettier than when I first bought my Rift.

Also, looks like these guys took the Kart Kraft thing, and one upped it. Tim, if you got motion sick in VR sitting still, just imagine how fun this would be for you!

Wait I'm a bit lost, is the point of that setup to always drive the real thing while in VR or was that just some testing?

The thing is though...how do we know if the handling is good? I'll never get a chance to drive one.

They claim they have a public release of it in the works for 2019. So driving a real kart, in a VR world is the plan.

Re: PC Sim Racing

i dont get it. i love technology and implementing it.
but thats like me taking the vette to the track and driving it, but putting on a set of goggles that lets me see the track in AC.
absolutly pointless.
like haveing sex, but putting on googles that let you see the exact same chic your having sex with in VR.

I'm not into the real life go kart VR thing either, but I also recognize that if nobody ever tried to push any innovations in the gaming industry, we'd all still be sitting around playing Pong. "thumbsup"

Very interesting. I always wondered how close it was to the real thing.

I think the VR in a real go kart thing is a tech demo and nothing more. I could be wrong though.

I've been running R3E mostly. I love the Competitions in that game.

looking into this.

thoughts? other options?
im looking for more of a kit, rather than DIY piece meal. even if it costs me some extra.
also heat creation is a MAJOR concern with my small room, lots of equiptment, shitty AC, texas heat, setup.

If you want to spend more money for less, go for it. But you're literally connecting two wires to a transducer so the kit isn't saving you anything over the "DIY" solution. :lmao:

Buy two of these;

https://www.parts-express.com/auraso...ducer--299-028

Buy one of these (Solid state, small and virtually no heat)

https://www.amazon.com/SMSL-Audio-SA...ds=smsl+sa-98e

Two of these;

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And SimVibe; use product code SimXBlack for a black Friday deal, drops it to $71, one time purchase, lifetime support.

https://simxperience.com/en-us/produ...esoftware.aspx

Mount one shaker under/in your pedal box, and one under your seat. Run SimVibe in chassis mode (it'll help you with setup) and it will send the proper feedback for each end of the car to the shaker that should get it. This is the setup I've been running for almost two years now and it's awesome. It really adds a lot of immersion to sim racing. Bear in mind some sims have better shaker telemetry than others. iRacing is pretty well done.

If it works it would be really cool. That's part of the experience and feedback that is missing with sims.

When I clicked the link I got a message (seen below) with a 25% off coupon.

Black Friday Deals Are Here!

Re: PC Sim Racing

fun fact.
Randys list, if i do 1 transducer, 1 amp, 1 crossover (ie identical setup to buttkicker) its $165
would also need to add cables etc to that.

buttkicker with 25% off is also $165

i really had no plans to do simvibe to be honest. im a KISS kind of guy on just about everything.

Then why would you want the bass shakers then? Without software that converts the telemetry data to useful signals like gear change/driveline clunk, tire spin, kerbs, etc, they're pretty much just meh.

Trust me, I tried every way in the world to cheap out. Cheap amp at first, free software rather than SimVibe, etc. Two shakers, and SimVibe in chassis mode is where it's at. I'm sure four shakers is great too, as you get each corner of the car, but then you need a bigger 4 channel amp, etc. The shakers are only $50 each, it's not like the extra one is breaking the bank. Come on Cory, you have how many sports cars in the driveway now? :lmao:
