Re: PC Sim Racing

hey guys, (technically Randy since hes the only one racing any more:mrgreen: )

i joined a new group for iRacing on wensday nights.

there actually all a bunch of Texas track day guys like myself that also irace. which is really cool.

they just formed a Facebook group after i suggested it (group just formed 3 weeks ago)
https://www.facebook.com/groups/texashpde/

the first couple weeks i simply forgot to try them out, but last week i finally remembered. i wanted to test the waters before passing along info.
was a great group. about twice as big as our CF league. probly 20 cars. all skill levels.

last week was GTEs at COTA. i was 4th fastest in practice, but due to the host accidently putting a 5 minute time limit on qual, my first lap(only time for 1) was faster than everyones and i got the poll due to the weird (accidental) format. ended up going on to win the race! also the races are shorter 20 mintues which i liked. the guy i was battling with for the lead was using VR and his headset flickered RIGHT at the brake zone to the back stetch turn12 and he rear ended me bad. i knew it was total accident, he was mega clean before that. he appologized and fell back leaving me to run away with the win by some 15 seconds.
they actually used my photo for the group on FB from the win"thumbsup"

anyway wanted to invite yall (i asked first)

tonight is open wheelers at Sonoma Cup

pick any car. each car will be its own class since performance is so different
1) McLaren Honda MP4-30

2) Williams-Toyota FW31

3) Formula Renault 3.5

4) Pro/Star Mazda

5) Skip Barber Formula 2000

6) Lotus 79

7) Dallara DW12 Indycar

i will most likely be in the indycar, with the FW-31 as back up (both free cars)

just look under the hosted races (not league) for ##HPDE TEXAS##. there is no password.

practice usually starts at 7 texas time (same as CF) although tonight it opens earlier at 6:30

I learned of that term when researching gun optics. No idea it applied to computers!

I joined the FB page. Not sure how often I'll race, but I like that it's more open in terms of cars!

Re: PC Sim Racing

ACC build .7 hit yesterday, and brought the following things;

Dynamic and Custom Weather: it is now possible to set a session with a pre-selected and even customized starting condition, enabling dynamic and unpredictable evolution.
Introducing visual and mechanical damage affecting bodywork, suspensions, aero and a brand-new, sophisticated tyre damage model that brings tyre management and endurance racing to a whole new level.
Introducing much-needed penalties, without which serious competition is unimaginable.
A new Multifunctional Widget that will allow players to see real-time track positions, manage pit stop requests and race strategies. This HUD element also allows the player to manage all aspects of car electronics.
Introducing rating-requirements in Multiplayer, with kick and ban commands.
Custom Race Weekend mode will allow players to set up a customized race weekend experience.
Brake air duct simulation: it is now possible to change the brake duct aperture that affects brake – and indirectly – tyre temperatures.
Introducing the SRO E-Sport GT Series Round 1 Special Event. (Note that this special event is controlled remotely, and may appear shortly following the Steam release).
And much more, including further Multiplayer and Ratings updates, optimizations, improved collisions and graphical, gameplay and user-interface updates.

Also, R3E has been adding more and more lately. I really need to fire this back up as it used to be my go to for solo hotlapping and time attack challenges.

Re: PC Sim Racing

I have almost every car in R3E. I had everything until they started dropping updates again. The Sauber is a beast, hard to tame, but man it sounds so fracking good!

Re: PC Sim Racing

For pure goofing around fun stuff, Forza was awesome. I do miss it sometimes.

Also, I thought R3E had that Sauber C9, but they don't Pcars2, and AC both have it though.

Re: PC Sim Racing

I spent a lot of time in college playing Forza (single player). My goal was to get an Ezo which, at that time, was my ultimate dream car. Once I got that car it's all I drove.
